2046 -- Thirty years into the Great Decline, America and the world are mired deep in the swamp of corruption and despair...
Richmond Monroe has just finished the biggest antiques-hunting contract of his life - and taken out a few Somali pirates along the way. When he returns home to Panama, he learns he must risk his life and paycheck to rescue his town from destruction by the land-hungry rulers.
One man offers hope. His price? President George Washington's finest sword.
Richmond ventures into the highly restricted United States to track down the blade. Unrest and chaos are growing in the former Land of the Free, but the Glock-wielding historian is ready to tackle the challenge. He'll encounter powerful figures and uncover devastating secrets.
If he fails in his quest, America could sink permanently under the tyrants' oppression.

Writer, traveler, adventurer. Lover of all things Geek and Dark. I admire villains, antagonists, and rogues more than a little. They really do have more fun, and they can teach us important life lessons.
I write fiction because the characters in my head have too much attitude to stay in my skull, I want to see the world through different eyes, and I want to live life through different souls.
I write zombie apocalypse/horror/thriller books because it's in the dark that we see a person's true character. Plus, who doesn't like shooting zombies?

This isn't the America we know.... Imagine National Treasure...only dystopian. This is a quest for George Washington's sword, let by Richard, on a quest to find it in order to make a deal to save his village in Panama. In order to get the sword, he and Myles, a culture broker, must make their way to the United States and dodge the rival team also after the sword. This has well-developed characters, a gripping plot, and action that never lets up. This book has a lot of heart and soul though, and it endeared me to the characters even more. I highly recommend this book.
Richmond Monroe is an antique dealer located in Panama who will do almost anything to secure an object for his patrons. When his community and livelihood are threatened he makes a deal using his services in hopes of stopping the imminent destruction. The quest takes him on a journey through history within what remains of the southern US. What is an enigma wrapped in a mystery becomes even more complex as it unravels.
Champlin’s first novel in the Heritage of Liberty series, Fire of Our Fathers is a fascinating twist combination of treasure hunting and restoration of the rights of the American people. Written sometime in the future it mixes the past with what could have been, alternative history is you will.
While reading this book I was reminded of the writings of Clive Cussler. I think with a little more polish that Champlin will rival him in the future.
So the beginning started out with awesome action with boats! After that it did have slow paced to it before Richmond picked up a new case for very sweet sword! Boy let me tell you it just right into whole lot of action & mystery at corner Richmond & Myles turned it's like they never get a chance to take a break lol.. i do have to say the author really out did herself with this book even with it being different from her other book series.
