good book and well written. Liked the ending for once, with the untold unexpected reveal
with so much you expect things to get very dark and unthinkable the author cleverly leads you there without actually taking you there.
Mother's sacrifice i think could have had an alternative title as it was more about power struggles and expectations and at the end of it, breeding! Good read overall

5 stars ! Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and following along with the struggles of Quinta . I loved her relationship with her mother and the relationship she formed with Patrick , it was all very entertaining ! Although she was separated from Mr Ross quite early on in the book , I was still kept captivated following her struggles after being discarded by Mr Bilton , who certainly played a annoying but brilliant villain character . The ending was also a complete unexpected twist which I was shocked about but then could also envision how it could have had easily led to a sequel of the book . Overall I enjoyed this book greatly and will certainly be reading more of Catherine King's book's after having experienced a pleasant first experience of this one :)
Ps : I think we can all agree sergeant Ross's death was sad :( he seemed like such a lovely character and only wanted the best for his son ! I was sure that him and Laura would have gotten married . :( :)

I really enjoyed this Catherine King novel. I felt that Quinta and Laura's characters were really well-rounded and beautifully developed. Noah Bilton makes a brilliant villain too.

For me though much as Quinta was a brilliant character, she was also at times really annoying for how she would deal with her problems. By the time she ran away with Amos it had become rather wearing.
