Harold Bloom was an American literary critic and the Sterling Professor of Humanities at Yale University. In 2017, Bloom was called "probably the most famous literary critic in the English-speaking world." After publishing his first book in 1959, Bloom wrote more than 50 books, including over 40 books of literary criticism, several books discussing religion, and one novel. He edited hundreds of anthologies concerning numerous literary and philosophical figures for the Chelsea House publishing firm. Bloom's books have been translated into more than 40 languages. He was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 1995.
Bloom was a defender of the traditional Western canon at a time when literature departments were focusing on what he derided as the "school of resentment" (multiculturalists, feminists, Marxists, and others). He was educated at Yale University, the University of Cambridge, and Cornell University.

“...this was startling, and, coming on the top of so many strange things, was beginning to increase that vague feeling of uneasiness, which I always have when the Count is near; but at the instant I saw that the cut had bleed a little, and the blood was trickling over my chin. I laid down the razor, turning as I did so half-round to look for some sticking plaster. When the Count saw my face, his eyes blazed with a sort of demonic fury, and he suddenly made a grab for my throat. I drew away, and his hand touched the string of beads which held the crucifix. It made an instant change in him, for the fury passed so quickly that it could hardly believe that it was ever there."

Dracula
Dracula, is a gothic story for the ages! I was swept up in the characters well being, the travel through London and Transylvania, the gothic castle and the very premise of good versus evil.
This was my first time reading Dracula. I always thought if I saw the movie no need, but wait... the novel is like reading a didn't story! And so phenomenal!!!
If you are looking for an easy classic to deep your toes in, Dracula is it!
