Made of Steel: The Complete Series

Rate this book
MADE OF STEEL (Book 1)
The witness protection program has given me the fresh start I've always dreamed of. A new home. A new name. A new life. For the first time in ten years it feels like I can breathe again.

But the cost of freedom is more than I bargained for. I put my foster father behind bars. It doesn't matter that he deserved it. What matters is that he's powerful, manipulative, and now he wants me dead.

I can feel someone watching me. I know my time is running out. And the only other person who cares if I live or die is a masked stranger. So I'm putting my life in the vigilante's hands. And maybe a piece of my heart along with it. Even though I'm worried that he's just as dangerous as the man I sent to prison.

FORGED IN FLAMES (Book 2)
It's hard to be consumed by revenge when my heart feels like it's breaking in two. A part of me is still in love with Miles. I think I always will be. He embodies everything I thought my life could be. Every hope and dream and wish. But I'm not the girl that he remembers.

And I'd be lying if I said I haven't started to fall for the New York City vigilante. He's the only other person that knows what it's like to live behind a mask. There's a darkness in him that mirrors my own. He embraces my broken soul.

But I'm tired of all the secrets, masks, and lies. I don't need a man to save me. I'm the superhero of my own story. And all I need to focus on right now is Don Roberts - a monster far worse than I ever imagined - before he unleashes the mafia on this city and ruins any chance I have at a new life.

CARVED IN ICE (Book 3)
When I was little, I dreamed my life would be a fairy tale. But it just so happens that I don't need a knight in shining armor to save me anymore. I'm made of freaking steel.

It's time for answers. Time for vengeance. And time to finally unmask the notorious V. There's no going back now.

I’ve already told Ivy personally how much I loved these books but I thought she well and truly deserved a great review!

I haven’t read much over the past two years as my partner came into my life and I ended up having my daughter so I’m sure anyone can appreciate that I haven’t had much time. But I decided to give it a go again just to see if I could find anything worth really getting my teeth into... and boy did I find it! I got so emotionally attached to the characters in the story! I cried and laughed with them, I was sad for them and scared for them! I felt like one of their crew!

The last time I enjoyed a book series this much was when I first read the twilight books when they came out!!
Miles and Summer’s story was scary, exciting, sad, romantic, uncertain.... everything a relationship in a good book should be!
Poor Summer having to deal with her poor childhood being abused and raped only to be saved and to find her way back to her childhood love... who she can’t tell the truth!!
Then the Vigilante shows his face to try to save the broken Summer (Sadie) and to try to fix her and find out what happened to her when she was missing!

The vigilantes identity truly kept me guessing until the very end!! And finding out his identity felt as amazing to me as I’m sure it did to Summer!

A big part of me believes that Summer and Miles’ story is not over yet though! There must be more!! What happens when they go to England? What’s their wedding like? Does her step father come after her again? Does her real father start his new life with her in England? Do they have children?
I’m begging you Ivy, please let there be more!!!

It’s not very often I find a book I love but when I do, I buy then on paperback and that’s exactly what I’ve done with these books! So when I say these books are captivating and worth every word, it means just that coming from me!!
This book is truly worth the read! Enjoy your very own up and down adventure!!!

I loved this trilogy so much I'm re-reading it now. I used to just read simple, stand-alone romance novels, but now that I've read Ivy's brand of psychological thriller romance (is that even a genre??) there is no going back. I loved The Hunted series, but these are a lot different. I almost put it down after I started reading it and found out it was a love story that starts when they're kids, but I'm so glad I didn't. I could remember that feeling of young love with Ivy's writing. This was such a tragic love story I just couldn't put it down. When I finished I had to take a break from reading for days because I just wasn't ready to say goodbye to these characters. I hope she has more in the works for these characters, I need to know what the future holds for Miles and Summer!

So let me say I was late to the party, actually I purchased the first book Made of Steel back in 2018 but I never read it for some reason. I received an email and read the description and it made me want to read this book and so in turn I got this the complete series. I am kind of glad I waited so I was able to have all the books in one series. I would give Made of Steel 5 stars, Forged in Fired 5 stars and Carved in Ice 5 stars. I will tell you that if you believe in soul mates this story will definitely is one for you. I believe that people have soulmates' people that they love through everything and that no matter what they can never get that person that they feel a drawing to. I believe that Summer and Miles were those type of souls. They thought they were in love when they were young and best friends and then it grew from there. I had to get the series because I didn't want to get an interruption in that I had to download another book and made sure I post a review because they stories were awesome, and I loved reading them. From beginning to end I loved this story. I would highly recommend this author and this series. Thank you, Ivy Smoak, for a well written series, it was amazing.

Reader Beware

I enjoyed the story. Contained in these books is really all the Miles and Summer story you need to complete their story. There’s HEA just like It should be at the end of the third book but at the end the writer leaves this message “Summer and Miles’ story isn’t over yet! That’s right…there’s now a book 4:  Hidden in Smoke.  Click here to start reading for free!”
Beware, where the link will take you is to an app called Radish, she has posted the next book into 200 chapters which some of them are free but the rest, or a majority of them you have to use coins that you buy through the Radish application. And that book for those 200 chapters only end on a cliffhanger and she has started brand new chapters as an extension of that one. You will also get about 15 chapters free and they’re not all published yet and then the rest of them will only be uploaded and available to be read every 24 hours. The chapters that are there now either tend to be too short, too long or they are boring as heck. My advice is to enjoy the happily ever after you get after the third book that you can read as an e-book from Amazon. Don’t waste your money or time going further. Because even though they have happy moments in those chapters they still don’t end up with a happily ever after again yet. Very disappointed in Ivy and how she has changed to the Radish platform for this book for these characters who we love. Don’t go down the rabbit hole. I was happy with the ending with the complete series. I didn’t enjoy one moment of reading those chapters, those 200 chapters on Radish. I’m not even going to read on to find out who was trying to hurt them and ruin their lives in the fourth installment. And for those who have problems with their eyesight on the Radish app you can’t change the orientation of the book it’s it’s only in letter reading style
and you can’t make the font any bigger and you can’t enlarge the screen.

3 story series by Ivy Smoak

#1 Made of Steele - Summer/Sadie turns 18 and ends up in the witness protection program in New York going to college. She has endured so much since her parents died when she was only 8. Will she ever hear from her best friend Miles again? He seems to have stopped caring when she was 13.
#2 Forged in Flames. Sadie doesn't know what to do. Don is after her and now she going crazy. She is seeing her mother, but how? Her mother is dead, isn't she? Will Eli, Lisa and V be able to save her? She has an aunt? What happens next?
#3 Carved in Ice. Oh brother! What happens next? Don has found her! She knows who V is and Eli and Lisa? Thankfully Lisa is able to be with Eli while he recuperates from Don shooting him. Now Don has her again and has even died her hair back to red - just like her mother's. One good thing happens, she's able to have a short conversation with Mr. Crawford and learns more about why Don has done all the horrible things he has to her.
You will want to read until the very last page, Ivy Smoak has done a great job of writing Summer Brooks story!

💓 I absolutely loved this series. Summer and Miles. Summer is so strong. We start are journey with her and she's afraid. Thinking she's not strong enough. She's been hurt terribly to the point most people don't recover from. She's been in love with Miles all her life, the twist she also hates him. Miles is this devious, smooth, mysterious, etc. I really could go forever with Miles. It's really an emotional ride. I caught myself constantly saying I really hope she kills Don. I could feel her pain. I wish it might have been a bit longer I would've liked to see Don get his in some way other then how he did. I'm glad that the author ended Summers interaction with Don the way she did. That was the defining moment that showed Summer's strength. Read I recommend anybody who is looking for a new series that's pretty decent. Their story is done I wouldn't mind reading some of the supporting characters stories. If they ever get wrote.

What I Liked:
The level of suspense is extremely high for all three of the books. Summer has so many questions about what's really going on and answers aren't really revealed until the third book.

What Bothered Me:
I really didn't like Summer's therapist or his abrasive strategies for making realizations about her current feelings. I also didn't care for the character of Liza and found the casual switching around of love interests disconcerting.

Overall:
If you like angsty new adult romantic suspense and aren't turned off by characters with extremely traumatic pasts, then you may enjoy the Made of Steel series. I first read this series a few years ago and remember enjoying it without remembering most of the plot. I decided to read it again and found that it is no longer the best fit for me but maybe that's because I vaguely remembered the identify of the vigilante which is one of the biggest sources of suspense in the story.

Im going to give a review for each book since this is an omnibus of the 1st three books.

Made of Steel
This book felt like a faux pas reverse harem. Also, after everything she went through growing up, I just cant believe she would be just non-chalant about kissing and sleeping with the first boy who gives her attention.

This was about the same as Made of Steel. Except that the heroine was more wishy washy than ever. I can't remember if we find out who V is or not in this book.

Carved in Ice
While this one was better than the first two because the book ended exactly right (yet the author continues with all of the characters story on an app called Radish)I liked how they were able to come together and find the HFN(because the story continues just not on Amazon).

Brilliant trilogy

I only recently stumbled upon which ivy smoak and her books. I can honestly say I've devoured every single one. I prefer the series over standalone purely because there is much more character development as well as an opportunity to become so emotionally attached to them. You just find yourself becoming immersed into their world. I loved this trilogy and I think it's probably my favorite of her series. I'd recommend reading anything written by this author. Not only are the plots carefully thought out but there's a nice flow to the writing style and rarely any grAmmatical errors. If you want to get lost in a book full of love, heartache, despair, desperation, highs and lows and a happily ever after then start reading.

Ok, wow. This is the 2nd series I read by her and again I’m amazed. She is a wonderful author!
The book had several twists and turns. It was very sad what Summer had to go through and the pain she suffered but as the books continued I was picking up on clues that V was actually Miles. I love that! Their pull they had was amazing. A few times I thought Miles was taken from her but he wasn’t. I was glad for that. And the relationship with Eli. I thought that was going to turn out substantially but then a twist in the storyline would occur and point back to V which proved otherwise.
Overall, it truly was an amazing series, in my opinion, and did indeed have a HEA.

I loved this book sooo much and in general I love all of Ivy Smoaks books ♥ I read the whole trilogy in like 2-3 days, cause it was so hooking and she really develops a connection between the characters and the reader. It's a great balance between suspense, hot sex, action, + it keeps you on your toes. Just to let ppl who haven't read it know: it also contains some super serious topics, but she writes it in a way that could really affect and give people a better understanding of it in like an impactful way.

A million times, yes!

I stumbled across Ivy's Empire High series and was instantly hooked. I've since read all of her other books involving the Hunters, the Caldwells and their friends. While impatiently waiting for Betrayal to be released, I decided to start the Made of Steel series. OMG, so many feels. I started it yesterday and haven't gotten much sleep since. So much suspense, pain, love, revenge, and even some humor (Liza turned out to be so much fun)! Ivy is amazing! Can't wait for more!

surprised every step of the way

Holy cow, just when I thought I knew what was going on BAM, plot twist. There were times I was so sure of who V was and what was going to happen then something else would happen and I would second guess everything and come up with new ideas. This was a GREAT book and Ivy is an incredible author who really makes you feel the emotions in the book(s). There were parts of the book(s) that had my heart racing and had my heart aching. Truly a great series written by a very talented author!

Hot Sexy Twisted Adventure Ride!

Literally couldn’t put these books down. So many times I wanted to turn to the end of the last book to discover who wore the mask, but I’m a die hard reader who never spoils a book by reading the ending first. I almost caved the suspense and drama were so amazing! This is my first time reading Ivy’s books, but I’ll be checking out more after this nonstop thrilling series!

WHAT?!?!?!

This thriller will not disappoint you. The uncertainty and drama sucks you in right from the start. You’ll cry, you’ll get upset, and you’ll love every moment. This series had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down. Every time I read it, I’m entertained.

This is a MUST read!!!

Book 3 is completely unnecessary. You can put two and two together without the story being drawn out like it is. Don't make me wait three whole books of a build up just to not follow through and rush through the point of the entire series in the end. Good story but it could've been two at least, especially wasting my time to read an entire chapter about hot chocolate.

I read other reviews and after I read all the books thought the series was worth 5 stars. I read the whole series in 11 days. The series made me laugh, cheer and cry. I had a feeling on who “V” could be by the 2nd and than it was confirmed in the third book. I understand why Summer was the way she was. Happy ending though.

Excellent

It gets one star deducted for putting book 4 on a pay per chapter mobile book App.

I loved it and was going to leave a good review but I bought "the whole series " and I didn't get it if book 4 is on a teen fan fiction App. Not happy!

Page turner

I've definitely gone down an Ivy Smoke rabbit hole! But this series was hard to put down! Here books are usually pretty steamy, which I like, but this book series kept me guessing, if you like her other books definitely give these a read.

This is one of my favorite series thus far! This book took me on a complete emotional rollercoaster, falling in love with the characters and plot. Most importantly, the ability to make you fall in love with hope, love, and the power of connection among two people.
