The author is Kimberly Sullivan and this is a mystery series with at least 3 titles. This book,
"Mystery on Cow Mountain", is the second book in the series. The title of the series is the Shady Lane Junior Detectives and the 4 children that make up the group are ethnically diverse: Caucasian boy and girl siblings, African-American boy, and Asian girl. It's a very quick read with only 107 large pages. The children hear a legend that a treasure was buried on Cow Mountain and learn that a classmate once found a map before he was scared away by yellow eyes in the nearby cave. They decide to check it out themselves but observe the cemetery caretaker, who is unfriendly, has sharp teeth and is locally knows as JAWS, acting mysteriously. There's also a couple digging on Cow Mountain. On several spooky nights the children sneak out of the house to investigate and they solve this dangerous mystery on their own. I had a few minor questions about feasibility but all in all the book is nicely written.
