Rate this book
Some promises are made to be broken.
Some memories are better left forgotten.
Some thorns are not meant to be touched.

What do I remember most about Ethan Thorne?
The stupid games we used to play.
His scrawny legs as he struggled to climb the old willow tree.
How we raced back to the dock from the middle of the lake on a hot summer day.

What does the world say about Ethan Thorne?
Well, the tabloids call him a playboy. A lady-killer. Some sort of maverick.
The business circuit calls him ruthless and cunning. An unrelenting competitor. A titan of industry.

But do you want to know who the real Ethan Thorne is?
The truth is, I have no idea.

Fifteen years ago, we were only children. For one short summer, we were pure and innocent, unspoiled by the cruelty of the world. But the funny thing about the world is that it has a way of taking what we hold closest to our heart and tearing it away.

So I moved on.

I grew up. I took my spills and I toughened up. After years of hard work, my flower shop was booked for the ritziest events in Los Angeles, and with my best friend April by my side, I was finally happy. I built a good life for myself, away from that other world.

From afar, I watched Ethan Thorne grow up into the business magnate that he was destined to become. And sometimes, when the nights grew cold, I tried not to wonder what could have been.

But some thorns leave scars that can’t be healed.
Some memories refuse to be left in the past, hidden in the dark.
Some promises change us forever.

2.5 STARS

There ae 3 books in the series and each one of them is really short so I'm gonna combine the review of the books .

all the 3 books are approximately 100pages and I personally feel that it all could have been included in a single book. It felt like reading a few chapters and then changing the book and i have kindle unlimited so it was free for me but otherwise i would not prefer to spend money n this book.

The plot was good but some parts just didn't make sense for me and also i was irritated by how small the book was.

Its the story of two people who knew each other for a summer when they were 10 and made a plan to run away together but couldn't. fast forward 15 years the girl has a flower shop and the boy is a billionare playboy who owns a tech company, both pretend they don't know each other.

For me the story was unnecesarily cmplicate at certain places but othewise it had a good storyline , 2 childhood friend meeting and 15 years who are in love but have their own baggage to carry.

This story was a great start and I can't wait to read more. The first 9 chapters really draw you into the characters and makes you want more.

Sierra (Nev) owns a flower shop with her best friend and is really banking on this high profile event to go on without a hitch. Oh and not running into the guest of honor.

Ethan Thorne is a business tycoon, and is ruthless in everything. It also doesn't hurt that he is a real looker.

This does end in a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read more to find out what happens.

I loved the first nine chapters. exciting, fun and anxious to see what happens, does he remember her?
Sierra (Nev), owns a flower shop, her best friend works for her so April can go to auditions. Ethan Thorne is a business tycoon, ruthless in business and an absolute looker.
I am first going to get my dislikes out of the way. I never read cliffhangers. I don't like having to live waiting for the next part. I don't even read excerpts.
That being said, I enjoyed the story, it was well written, easy to read and fun. I found it to be compelling and I read what there was, straight thru. There was not anything too racy but with the next book who knows.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

They knew each other for a few weeks one summer when they were kids. Now he is a billionaire. She is a business owner. And their paths are crossing once again. Sierra's flower shop is hired to provide the flowers for a major charity event. The Conservation Charity is the pet project of Ethan Thorne. It's unlikely that they will even cross paths but then again, sometimes fate plays a hand.

This is a delightful tease. It's the perfect length for a quick escape. Take note that this is a serial, so there will always be cliffhangers. Wait for the entire story if that upsets you. I personally love bite-size books. The writing style is entertaining. The characters are realistic. Sierra is intelligent which is an important quality to me. The banter between Sierra or Nev and Ethan is flirty and fun. The connection is apparent. The ending is intriguing, I can't wait to pick up with the next book.

This was a phenomenal introduction to an upcoming book and series. The ending left my jaw on the floor and I can't wait to see what's next for Ethan and Sierra.

In just a few short chapters, L.K. Rayne grabs your attention, introduces you to some very intriguing characters and sets the scene for an amazing book that I certainly want to read.

I believe this is a debut novel and it is clear to see it won't be her last.

UPDATE: BOOK 2, SATIN AND THORNE IS COMING OCTOBER 2019. Rereading book 1 to prepare and refresh my mind.

Sierra met Ethan a lot of summers ago. So, when she is hired to supply the flowers for an event he is attending, she hopes he doesn't remember her. Or at least, that he doesn't recognize her.
I can't say much more. Because this book is really, really short. But it leaves you wanting to start the next one as soon as possible.

Short story

I was contacted by an email by the author and decided to give it a try on KU. I’m rating it a 3 1/2 stars. It wasn’t an awful book but it lacked some missed opportunity to the storyline. Ethan and Sierra were childhood friends and spent a great part together. They eventually grown apart as they grew older and their careers have them casually working around each other. For me, I would’ve liked to read Ethan’s POV throughout the chapters. Each character taking turns every other chapter with their POV would have drawn me closer to them. It was too one sided and Sierra acted a little immature for her business savviness. The book focused too much on Sierra not wanting her identity uncovered by Ethan and hiding from him. I see that a next book is available with Ethan’s POV and wished it would’ve been combined to make a full book instead of two small ones. This is only my opinion and shouldn’t discourage you from trying it.

This story really grabbed my attention, because I just love the ‘friends from childhood’ on the cusp of love kind of story. I want to see what happens when Ethan sees Sierra for the first time. I was not disappointed. He made a beeline for her in no time. He was delayed here and there but he got to her. They left together after some introductions and mini socializing. They both were pretending ignorance of knowing each other. This is where I don’t get what happened next. Ethan left Sierra high and dry. They were ready to have sex. He just packed it in, zipped up and left. End of story, and of book. That’s too much of a cliffhanger for me.

This review is for the entire Thorne trilogy.

Although a little unclear as to how young they were when they played as children, Thorne and Sierra were best of friends. True, it was just one Summer they spent together, but the strength of their affection still lingers. They were supposed to run away together, but something happened and they never did go through it. Now they are both adults and just by sheer Fate, they meet again. The nevers, emotions, and the unforgettable time they shared is a bond neither can resist.

As our story progresses, they both get deeper and deeper into the raw feelings and most of all, the attraction they feel for each other. Only one problem. Thorne is not an easy man to understand. He keeps everything inside and has difficulty trusting and opening up. It is up to Sierra to provide the emotional support he needs as well as try to open him up and trust again.

I must say I really enjoyed this story. My only problem, my analytical mind was a little confused because it was not clear just how young they were when they met. They are both in their late twenties early thirties now, so if their friendship happened 15 years ago, how could they both be pre-adolescent? If you can ignore that glitch, you will find this is a very entertaining story.

I am voluntarily reviewing these books. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.

This book has a wonderful concept but has a slow build-up.

The lead up to the final moment, however, had me full of anticipation. It also kept me turning the pages. By the time I hit the cliff-hanger ending, there was nothing I could do, there was no choice, I needed more.

With that being said, I found Sierra’s 180 from wariness to wanting something more was too fast. There was no build-up in Sierra and Ethan's relationship. The attraction, for me, felt tame at best.

The book is also very short and as result, there is nothing much to grip your teeth into. There is the introduction of characters, their meeting and the hint of something more and then, the book is complete.

Nonetheless, this book as a whole was intriguing and was a whole lot of tease. It also highlighted and wonderful secondary character, April. I really liked her character and hope to see more of her in the next books. On to the next book in the series!.

I gave this book 3.5 stars because the attraction between the characters was too fast and also because I didn’t feel their attraction until the very end.

I received a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Amount of Sex – 1.5 / 5
How Explicit are the Sex Scenes - 3 / 5
Story - 5 / 5
OVERALL - 5 / 5

Silk and Thorne is the first book in the Silk and Thorne series written by author L.K. Rayne. This series has a continuous storyline, so be prepared for it to end with a cliffhanger! The great news is that all three books in the series have been released. So you can immediately read the other two books once you finish the first one.

Silk and Thorne tells the story of Sierra (Nev) Kinsey, who owns and runs a flower shop. She works with her best friend, April Santos, who’s been learning to take the lead on an upcoming event. Nev’s nervous about it because Ethan Thorne will be attending, and Ethan is what some consider to be a bad boy billionaire. It’s been roughly fifteen years since the last time they’ve seen each other. Will Ethan recognize Nev?

I absolutely loved this book, and I immediately downloaded Satin and Thorne, which is the next book in the series! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Not a bdsm book

If you read some reviews that were 1 and 2 stars where they complaining about it being bdsm, please ignore those, that is not what this series is about. There was a very small amount of power play and one scene where her hands were tied. In fact, there is very little sex scenes at all. Also, for those who mentioned how short it was, well all three books together makes it a normal length.

The story was not bad, but there was a lot of plot holes I thought. This made me almost give a 2 star rating. Also, the ending didn’t make sense to me because none of the issues that kept them a part were actually resolved or spoken of. And I was a little confused about the big childhood reveal. I can’t speak of it without giving a spoiler so I am going to leave it up to you to decide if it makes sense at all.

Honestly, I dnr. All the loose ends left me feeling disappointed. I mean if you are reading it for free though, go for it. It is a page turner and it keeps your attention. The details of it was perfectly written and the characters were well developed I thought.

Sierra and her best friend April owns a flower shop and is working on a high profile charity event. They hope everything goes off without any problems. But when she literally runs into Ethan Thorne and spills water on him, she is mortified. She takes a minute to catch her breath but Ethan shows up on the balcony and wants her to buy him a drink to make up for spilling water on him. While April pushes her to go, Sierra doesn't want to go because he doesn't remember her at all.
Ethan Thorne is a suave businessman and ruthless at everything he does. He goes after what he wants. It seems that he has set his sights on Sierra at the moment.
Does Ethan really remember her and playing around? Can she go with him and trust him? What will happen in the next book?
This is a first for me from this author and I really enjoyed the beginning of this series and I can't wait to jump into the next one.

I am not much for short stories...but am glad I agreed to read this novella..

Sierra and Ethan were last saw each other during the summer fifteen years ago. Ethan is an attained self made billionaire. Sierra owns a flower shop with her best friend and employee, April, together they are lifting Sierras new business off the ground. When Sierras flower ship is the company hired to provide the flower arrangements to a charity even Ethan is involved with, Sierra is anxious and nervous. She believes she will probably not bump into Ethan and much less remember her.

They cross paths in the most embarrassing way possible...she spills water on his crotch. There the banter begins... however that is where the book pretty much ends. I did not expect the book to end at the climax..

Really good read

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the trilogy, why 4 stars I hear you say, well that’s because this book is the introduction to the main characters. We get to meet Nav/ Sierra and Mr Thorne. The heat is definitely there between these two, and started as children one summer. It’s a well written book, but I have the feeling that each book will give a glimpse into time slots into these twos developing relationship. We are left hanging with this book. Things were just hearing up, but your left with so many questions. I’ve dropped a star because I feel there could have been more...why three books?. To be honest it should be 4.5 stars, but we can’t do half stars.
It’s good, it’s grabbed my attention, and it’s easy to loose yourself in their world. I’m off to grab the rest in the series.

Sierra Kinsey still remembers the geek Ethan Thorne had been when she knew him fifteen years ago. Now he's well known and a very eligible bachelor. When the meet at The Conversation Fund benefit, Sierra can't take her eyes off him. The first encounter between these two is romantic. I felt the chemistry between them. I liked the characters. Sierra is sweet and humorous. I liked her interaction with her best friend, but Ethan was an enigma. He was charming and focused. At this point in the story, I didn't understand his motivation. Since the story ended with a cliffhanger, I'll have to wait for the next episode to see what happens. I liked the writing style of L.K. Rayne.

I liked the beginning of what looks to be a trilogy. This is the first book that I've read from this author and part one and novella length. I liked the story of Ethan and Nev and this looks to be a good one when it's finished. The heroine is independent and successful and owns her own business. The hero is a billionaire and CEO of his own company that he built all on his own. I am curious as to what is really going on with this guy. Is he out for revenge or what? I'm not a fan of this type of release. I do prefer to read stories when all of the parts are available. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the rest. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Silk and Thorne is book one in the series Silk and Throne by author L.K. Rayne. WOW!!! JUST WOW!!
So when I decided to ride this book I really had no expectations- never heard of this author, just knew it was a
romance. Ok L.K. Rayne you are now on my radar- you are amazingly talented!!
The way you pull in your readers and hold them captive- takes talent.
From the first pages you get to know the one of the main characters - she’s sassy, funny and she feels real. I love that she has...... ok no spoilers. The male character is a bit of a mystery- which is a great lure!!
My only issue is that it’s a cliffhanger!!!!!!! Ugh!!! Now I’m hooked!! Gotta find out what happens next.
Enjoy!!

Ok I’m intrigued. This reads more like a serial and less like novella length as we barely brush the surface on who is Ethan Thorne to Sierra. I’m not one to ever grab a serial read since they’re not fleshed out like I want but this one was over before I realized.

What did I like? I need a friend like April...she was hilarious. Sierra though was a mess, from the beginning to end, she goes from one extreme to the other. It also ends on a cliffhanger so be warned.

Would I buy or recommend? If you like serials then you know what your getting but it’s in KU so that’s a no brainer.

Thoughts for the author? Thanks for allowing me a copy in exchange for my opinion.

I was given digital ARCs from the author for all three parts of the Silk and Thorne series for my honest review. A great start to what may turn out to be a rekindled romance. The main female character, Sierra (nicknamed Nev) who, along with her employee/bestie, April, owns and runs a thriving flower shop in Los Angeles. While this novella is just the beginning, it has potential to be a great read. Silk and Thorne started out as a fun and light hearted romance, but sparks fly when wealthy businessman, Ethan Thorne, reenters Sierra’s life. I’m anxious to see what happens in Book Two, Satin and Thorne.

Very quick read and intro into Sierra and Ethan. They spent some time together for a summer when they were younger and never got a goodbye. There's a lot of mystery into their lives 15 years ago as well as wonder if there is recognition on his part when they meet again at a fundraiser. He's definitely not the gangly boy from her past now. I love the way they dance around and toy with each other at the event. I enjoyed all the characters and their interactions. I'm really looking forward to seeing this story progress.

I was asked to read and review this book for an author that I have never read before. I have found a new author to read! I loved this book! Sierra seems like a sweet person who is just trying to make a living but is also trying to avoid the man from her past. It doesn't seem to work out for her, the man from the past thing lol. I am looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens. This book gets you hooked right away and keeps you hooked. You have to see what is going to happen next!

Only reason for mark down is this is a short read and only part one, it finishes on a cliff hanger as well, I know a lot of readers are not keen on this. The story is good, interesting and easy reading with a good flow. The characters are great which makes it even better, not really quite enough to know yet how this will play out because it finished just as it was getting a bit more gripping, thankfully I have the next part ready and waiting to read so will be diving straight in. If you don't mind a book in short parts then this is worth reading.

I believe this was the authors' debut and if it was I am quite impressed. It was very well written. It caught my attention from the very beginning and kept it throughout the book. This was a short novella giving you a glimpse of the characters and the history of how they all know each other and once knew each other. It was angsty and kept me intrigued. My only issue is that I would have loved to know what Ethan was thinking so his POV. The author left us with a lot to this about. I have a feeling this is going to be a very sexy, angsty series. Looking forward to the next book.

This story has a lot of potential. I love a heroine who is independent and successful all on her own and this story has that. It also has a mysterious and sexy love interest. What I would have liked to see more of is more background in Thorne. He appears mysterious and like he has something to hide but so far we haven't seen anything worth hiding. I little more build up and tension around his background would have made this great.

Interesting read.

I wish this was a full stand-alone and not a series. Ethan and Sierra were friends as children. Years have passed and. Ethan has developed into an intense, rich and very private man. Sierra wants to see if Ethan will remember her from childhood, but thinks not. Then things start moving very fast and Sierra is in for a big surprise. Give the book a try! You might just like it!

Short stories offer readers a taste of what an author might have. They aren't meant to tell the whole story but rather to entice you to continue with the series or genre. L.K. Rayne has a good story to tell but is she willing to share the whole story? Sierra has fond memories of her childhood friend, Ethan and wonders what he might be like when she is asked to provide flowers for his fundraiser. Read the whole series to get a better idea of what the pair find out about themselves.

Terrific beginning!
This first book in the series begins with Sierra looking back at her summer with Ethan Thorne fifteen years earlier. She is a successful florist and is booked for the most elaborate events in LA, along with April her best friend. Although she has moved on, she still keeps tabs on his accomplishments. Compelling characters and story are brought to life with her talented writing.

Easy read

Not too much to say apart from its a good, quick easy read with likeable characters with Ethan Thorne a bit dark and mysterious , only comment I would make is when the chapter quite early on was entitled Mr Thorne , I was expecting it to be the male POV and it wasn't and it took a moment to realise it was still the female pov. But if you want a quick romance this is ideal.

This book was advertised in a FB ad on what to read after Fifty Shades of Grey, it was short so I borrowed it from KU. What a joke - nothing about this book relates to FSG except it starting out boring. The book wasn't a terrible book, but it didn't make me want to read the next book in the series. The characters were ok but there really needed to be more about their past, so you could follow what was going on a little better. Then the ending was just weird and ended with a cliffhanger.
