Vince's Vixen

Rate this book
Running away can often lead to the same thing you were trying to leave behind …

Vince is not on board with the wave of romance happening at Legendary Security and so is happy to escape all that, but he soon finds himself aboard a research vessel off the coast of the Galapagos Islands, dealing with his own tide of emotions.
Vanessa loves her research trips. This latest one is finally coming to a successful conclusion, as she completes their data collection, when their vessel is boarded by pirates. She’s knocked unconscious and moved to an old sinking tub and left adrift in the ocean. She wakes to find the only other female member of the team is missing …

Worried, the team returns to shore, trying to sort out what happened. Vanessa insists on tracking her missing team member, even as the others vote to return home. Vanessa refuses. She’ll help or die trying. Vince can stay with her or go with the others—his choice—but no way is Vanessa’s lost researcher being left behind.
And, one by one, the other members of the team go missing too …

Another fav from this series....again, yup I keep saying this, but what else can I say when Dale Mayer keep writing amazing easy-to-read suspense read with a dash of sweetness and plenty alpha heroes to drool to.
This one started with kidnapping at Galapagos, an exotic place where there are many pirates, oh yes I'm totally hooked, then comes many suspects and theories, yup totally can't stop reading it. Although there are some questions that goes unanswered, I still enjoying nonetheless with all those actions and the sweetness between Vanessa and Vince.

If you're looking for an easy to read suspense, this is definitely for you.

I enjoyed this book. Filled with mystery, suspense, drama, action, danger, adventure and romance, the storyline easily holds your attention. It does take a while, but once the sparks start flying I did like the chemistry that flowed between Vince and Vanessa. A very exciting and entertaining read. This is my volitional, forthright review.

This is my favorite of the series. I love books that involve the ocean, be it sunken treasure, ghost ships, or scientific research. This story hits with plenty of action, suspense, and just the right dose of romance. These men fall hard and Vince's match is the perfect compliment to him. Another great read!

Ah, can’t say this was a favorite of mine. Well, the story was fast-paced and full of action as usual. Although I admit I experienced anti-climactic moment here. Vince was also a good character. Yet I struggled to finish the book. I didn’t like Vanessa character. I did admire her in the beginning, but as the story continued, she became too whiny for my taste. I also noticed that in most books in this particular series the romance was like an afterthought. There was almost no progression toward romance then, BAM, instant connection in the end. Felt more like one-night-stand instead of love-of-their-life.

I was provided a complimentary copy by the author / publisher through Booksprout, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

I'm usually thrilled to read a new Dale Mayer but this was not a favorite. While story line was fast past it was not a fast read. Normally I find her books so engaging that I read them straight through and want more. I was happy that Vince finally has a chance to find his gal. Vanessa became much too whiny as the story progressed, frequently about the same things. I just did not buy into the connection between the two, maybe because it was underdeveloped. No sparks, underlying tension. Still she is a great author and I will definitely look for the next one.

I'm still behind on this series, but I couldn't resist the latest.

Vince is really are having a hard time with all the couples forming around him. Of course this just amuses the rest of the team, to the point that Levi says his match will be going to be 'Vince's Vixen' and he won't really have a choice when that eventuality happens.

When a scientist working in the Artic calls concerned about his daughter doing research in the Galápagos Islands, he's spoken to her almost daily but now she hasn't answered he phone in twenty-four hours. His biggest worry is pirates, since her team spends much of their time on the research boat. Ice requests all the necessary information to start the investigation including George's daughter's name, she then decides Vince would take lead on this assignment. Did I mention her name is Vanessa and she was named for her vixen of a grandmother? I'm still giggling over that.

Vince is not comfortable with all the couples forming, he doesn't think he's ready for that kind of relationship. Levi however has pointed out that when you meet the right person, you know and nothing will stop it from happening and was the first to say 'Vince's Vixen'.

Vince's partner on this journey is from Bullard's team, Levi and Bullard are doing kind of an exchange program in order to spread out expertise. Johan can tap Bullard's connections and he has some understanding of the Galápagos Islands as well as sailing experience.

They have to skirt a storm to reach where they believe the research boat is, but what they find is an unpiloted boat with Vanessa, part of her team and an injured kidnapper. Now that they are safe Vanessa focuses her concern on her missing team member Dr. Laura Sanchez.

A complex group of personalities, as things get stranger and suspicious.

Vanessa definitely isn't letting anything go and is determined to find Laura and makes sure she gets home. One way or another.

I love the slow build relationship between Vince and Vanessa, it has not only heat but also irritation. Vince really has to stay on his toes.

Laughter, tears, suspense, danger and that simmer to sizzle relationship make this a book you can't put down.

I can't wait to read the next book, I loved the lead in to Ice's Icing.

Fantastic!

Vanessa and her group have been abducted from their research vessel in the area of the Galapagos Islands and no one knows where they are or their condition. Vanessa is the first one to regain consciousness but is tied up and laying on the floor in the bottom of a small ship that is being tossed around as a storm is blowing in.

This gets exciting right from the start with Vanessa showing her spirit and will to live as she tries to find a way out of their predicament instead of whining about their situation. Together, the team attempts to figure out why they have been targeted, but have no clue and one teammate is missing.

Vince is employed by Levi’s Legendary Security, and has teammate, Johann, with him to help find Vanessa. With the storm raging, they both find it difficult, but not impossible, to locate the lost research vessel, but instead, find a different ship with the research crew on board, locked below deck. This story gets real exciting and keeps you on your toes, so to speak as the mystery keeps getting deeper.

I enjoy the “take charge” attitude Vince and Johann have and the way they get the details they need to solve the mystery of why this research team was abducted. Vanessa’s feisty attitude is a welcome personality trait that I find entertaining. She is not afraid to try any and all options to escape their abductors.

This is a fast-paced story on the high seas! Full of excitement and mystery that keeps you engaged throughout the entire adventure.

Another brilliant chapter in the Heroes For Hire series! I loved it!

The running joke within this series is that Ice & Levi are matchmaking because every Hero hooks up with the spirited damsel in distress. In this book Vince wasn't gung ho for that part and puts it behind him. I like that. When Vanessa's dad hasn't heard from her in awhile he calls on Levi. Vince and Johann (from Bullards security team) are tasked with going to the Galapagos Islands to find out what's going on. Vanessa was a tad confusing for me. She shows intelligence, clear thinking when she is trapped and then when she is with Vince she appear to turn into a whiner. Maybe it was a freak out, stress relief moment for her. At one point she disobeys him and causes more of an issue. Stubborn woman! I enjoyed the suspense and not knowing. People were missing, was it corrupt government, cartel, or did they go willingly? All the scenarios were believable and we were right there with them trying to determine what was going on. Suspense - check. Slow build getting to know you - check. Action - you betcha, and Vanessa steps up! Romance - yes, its your bonus and I was surprised by who grabbed the bull by the horns and really went for it. Thank you Dale Mayer, thank you NetGalley, thank you Valley Publishing for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.

OMG Dale took us on an adventure with this book and most of it was set on, while not the high seas, the sea ;) When Vince was sent on this job he had no idea what he was in store for.
While Vince is not in the least bit interested in finding a mate, or so he thinks, he takes a lot of ribbing from Levi and Stone before the start of this mission he was dead set that he wasn't looking for a mate but that was before he met Vanessa.

This book is so full of exciting happenings from pirates, kidnapping, disappearances, cartel and the never ending great teamwork of Heroes for Hire! They seem to have some assistance in this book from Vince's Vixen. While the chemistry between Vince and Vanessa was so slow to show up I began to wonder if maybe they wouldn't make a romantic connection but it did finally happen.

First Dr. Sanchez goes missing when the research ship is boarded by pirates and everyone aboard is knocked cold, tied up and transported to another ship and left there. But as they are rescued by Vince and Johan and set out to search for the missing member of their team, another one disappeared and while looking for that one as well another one disappeared.

This book was actually the most exciting one in the Heroes for Hire series. It kept me turning the pages with much anticipation.

A missing research vessel not responding, possible kidnappers, pirates, poachers, a drug lord, and/or blackmail? A concerned scientist dad located in the Arctic contacts his friend Levi and he is concerned about loss of contact with his daughter. She is on a research vessel in the Galapagos Islands with a team who is not in contact with anyone. Two tour guides in the area have been killed, shot in the head, which makes the matters worse.
Vincent who has been doing paper work welcomes a new op but is dismissing Levi's teasing about finding a love interest as so many of Levi's operatives have done. But Levi continues to tease saying "Vincent's Vixen" would fit. Turns out the scientist's daughter is not only named Vanessa but is named after a vixen of a grandmother. Will this work?
After the vessel is found with Vanessa and her team being held hostage, Vincent wants to return home. However, Vanessa has other ideas as a team member Dr. Sanchez is still missing and Vanessa won't leave without her. So another part of the adventure begins.
Between storms, very unique team members, a battle of wits and of course a bit of romance this story is a winner. I had trouble putting it down. One of my favorite problems is to have a new book I can't stop reading!

Vince is not interested in all the romance happening at Legendary Security but when he finds himself in the Galapagos Islands he finds himself having to deal with all sorts of unexpected emotions. Vanessa is on one of her research trips but as this year's one is almost successfully over their vessel is boarded by pirates and she wakes up tied up having been knocked unconscious and moved into the inside of a rusty old boat adrift on the sea. Worse still, one of the female researchers is missing. After Vince and his colleague rescue them they return to shore and try to work out what has happened. Everyone but Vanessa wants to go home, but she is determined to find her missing colleague. Everything then gets complicated when other team members start to go missing. Can Vince keep Vanessa safe, find the original missing colleague and rescue the rest of the team?

This was a sweet story of how when the time is right, no matter the danger, love cannot be denied. I was so pleased to see Vince analysing his feelings and coming to the right conclusion. Well written, this was an enjoyable story in the SEAL type of fiction. A sweet HEA at the end too.

Vince's Vixen by Dale Mayer
Heroes for Hire Series Book Nineteen
Vince Manoj is ready to go on a mission. So, when a call comes in from a man who believes his daughter has gone missing...Vince is ready. Ignoring Levi and Stone as they teased it was his turn to find his soulmate.

Vanessa Blanchard is mad. She wakes up bound and gagged in a ship that isn't their research vessel. Three of her team is with her, but her friend is missing. It had to be poachers...those nasty men that kill the beautiful sea turtles and steal the eggs for the fun of it...or pirates. Locked in the bottom of an old boat...things aren't looking to0 bright. But she's not one to sit back and quit.

The islanders aren't too helpful when the men arrive, but Legendary Security has friends all over. The kind of friends who can help with sailboats and weapons and whatever is needed in a short time. Vince has his mind on the mission...no time to realize that something more was happening when he meets the feisty scientist. Another page-turner that kept my attention from beginning to end.

Great story, interesting and complicated characters

After Levi’s tongue-in-cheek teasing at the end of Dezi’s Diamond (Book 18 in the Heroes for Hire series), that he would be next to find his own love on the job, Vince is sent to rescue a young woman whose research vessel had been hijacked off the coast of the Galápagos Islands. Imagine his surprise when he finds Vanessa and her team in an old boat adrift on the water, having freed themselves from their bonds but hiding below, unaware that they were alone on the boat. Seems like a quick mission-accomplished since Vanessa was the person he was sent to rescue, BUT she will not leave until all the members of her research team have been found. The men are there with her, but Dr. Laura is missing. Very fitting that Vince and Vanessa partner up, no longer rescuer and rescued victim, to search for the research vessel, recover its data, and figure out what happened to Dr. Laura. What an exciting adventure and interesting story! Just herding the group to keep them together until they could get home was indeed a nail-biter.

Dale Mayer has done it again with another fantastic book in the Heroes for Hire series. This book appears to me to be slightly different from the other books in the series in that the chemistry between Vince and Vanessa doesn't become evident until quite far into the book but this doesn't make it any less enjoyable.. Vanessa's father has contacted Ice because he is concerned that he hasn't heard from his daughter in a while and he is justifiably worried. Vanessa is a research scientist who, along with a team from her university are in the Galapagos islands studying the turtles. Vince and his colleague Johan are sent to investigate. This story follows the journey that Vince and Johan took to find and rescue the team. Are any of the scientists working for the bad guys ? Will they all get home safely ? There is mystery, murder, kidnap, intrigue and of course romance, you will need to read the book to find the answers. This is a page turner.

Loved this latest book in the Heroes for Hire series. Vince doesn't like all the romance that is happening with the members of Legendary Security so he is happy when he gets an assignment to the Galapagos Islands. Besides, he's never been there so he'll have a chance to see somewhere new.

Vanessa is one of the research team and as they are getting close to the end of their assignment, they are taken by pirates. However, one of their team members is missing, Dr. Laura Sanchez. And as time goes on, more of the members disappear.

There was certainly a mix of characters in this book - especially the five members of the research team. I found myself getting frustrated with Dr. Walker who was self-serving and unwilling to listen to advice from Vince and Johan. But then, the story would not be the same without his character. There was a good mix of suspense, mystery, action, and romance. And as the story progressed, it wasn't obvious whether it was pirates who had taken the research team or if there was something more going on.

Vince is next in a long line of Heroes for Hire that have fallen for women they are dispatched to save. Vince doesn't want to be next, he doesn't want to go if the woman's name begins with a V. Well he doesn't have a choice when he is assigned to save Vanessa, a researcher who is missing from her research ship in the Galapagos Islands.

Vanessa is indeed a feisty, passionate, intelligent, caring, expressive woman. She is strong and does things that she may not want to but does to protect herself and the people she cares about. She is a perfect match for Vince. He is an alpha male who is skilled and protective. He is brave, strong, smart and determined to keep Vanessa safe.

The is another fast, exciting, fun read, with a bit of mystery. The initial rescue wasn't exciting but everything after that happened fast and furiously. I love all of the characters and can't wait for Ice and Levi to get their happily ever after in the next book.

Ms. Mayer characters are so many things and I like that fact that the women are as strong as the men, even if they don't quite realize it.

Vince finds his vixen in Vanessa, a woman who he is sent to rescue in the Galapagos. She’s been kidnapped and left stranded on a boat with three of her research doctors, and another doctor missing from the group. Vince locates Vanessa but hey all have troubles to leave the country, and Vanessa is insistent she’s not leaving w/o her friend, the missing doctor. As they try to piece what the kidnapping is all about, more of the group goes missing and it’s up to Vince to find out what is going on before Vanessa becomes another missing person.
A good read with a bit of steam and suspense as the group tries to evade the kidnappers and as they try to solve who is behind the kidnapping and why. The two have sparks and I really enjoy the no mess, no drama and no running away from each other when they realize that they are meant for each other.

I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. This is book 19 of ... in the Heroes for Hire series. This book centers around Vince and Vanessa. Vince isn’t “on-board” (haha) with all the recent romances happening within Legendary Security (Heroes for Hire) paramilitary group run by Levi and Ice.

Vince and Vanessa are on a research vessel outside the Galapagos islands when it is attacked. All sorts of fun and games ensues from there (not really much fun)...

This is an adventure/mystery book with a tiny bit of tame romance thrown in. Of course the two main characters get their HEA.

With this series, I typically encourage the reader to read the series in order. However, with this book it’s not critical, but I would still encourage it as it will help you understand all the characters and backstory going on. And of course it’s completely worth your time and money!

When Ice calls a meeting about a missing doctor in the Galapago's he is ready and willing to go check it out. The father of the missing doctor is calling from his research lab in the Arctic. Vince has never been there and always wanted to see the islands is ready and willing to go. What awaits him is beyond his wildest dreams.
Vanessa is a spitfire that loves her research and her research ship. When she is knocked out along with her research team and taken to a different ship and set adrift, she awakes and is determined to get free and find out what has happened. One of her team is missing. She rallies the rest of the team and helps them get free. She is desperate to find her friend and fellow researcher.
Nothing prepares her or Vince for what follows. I cannot give a spoiler and if I continue I will do that. This is another great book in the series and you will love it. It is great.

Vanessa is a scientist who is collecting data on a research ship off the coast of Galapagos. She and her crew are all knocked out and kidnapped by pirates. When Vanessa awakens, she discovers that the only other woman in their crew is missing.

Meanwhile, Vanessa’s father has not heard from his daughter for a few days and is worried. He hires Vince from Legendary Security to go to Galapagos and search for his daughter.

When Vince finds the crew, he and Vanessa search for the missing woman. The rest of the crew tries to return home, but unfortunately they find themselves evading some unknown men in suits. They are all unsure if these men are good or bad.

From then on, this book is a page-turner with a complex and unusual plot and many interesting, but perplexing, characters. The author creates a spellbinding suspense that keeps the readers guessing throughout the book.

When you pick up a Heroes for Hire book by Dale Mayer, you know you will find a feisty heroine, a strong hero, an interesting setting, and lots of suspense. This is what I enjoy about her books. This book is no different. Vince is sent to Galapagos Island to determine what happened to an American research team. Even though Vanessa's team has been kidnapped and tied up on a ship, Vanessa is the first to plan an escape. Vince's rescue of them is just the start of a suspenseful story because one of team is still missing. Even though Vince's wary of starting a relationship, Vanessa intrigues him. I received a free copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I really like this fast read. I like that there was more than rescue and escape in the book.

When Vanessa’s father is unable to contact her, he is determined to find out what has happened and who could be a better choice to investigate than Legendary Security. Vince and Johann are sent to track down a research vessel that has gone missing.

Vince is happy to not only escape the romance but the red tape that he is currently surrounded by. When they arrive they are unable to locate the research boat but they happen to come across a boat that is carrying Vanessa and the rest of her team except for the one missing member Laura.

Once they are out of danger everyone is prepared to go home except for Vanessa. She isn’t about to leave a team member behind even if it places her in danger and that is when the adventure really begins.

Heat, suspense and twists all combine into a compelling storyline.

You know an author is outstanding when you notice that there is 20 books in 1 series alone. Dale Mayer is exceptional! Each and every book is so much of a page turner that you seldom stop reading until you've finished. Yet again another entertaining read with the usual twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat and reaching for another cuppa. As with every book in this series you simply cannot wait for the release of the next installment and what I appreciate immensely is that there is never a long period of time in between each book. And as these books are similar to and often linked with the Seals of Honor series there is always a new release to keep you going. I am a fan so much so that I truly hope this series never ends! The K9 Files series are another fabulous set of books well worth reading.

Book 19 in this explosive and thrilling series. The next man is up but he doesn't want or need anyone although Levi has his matchmaking hat on. Vince is new to the compound and it’s not long before he has a job in the Galapagos. To search and save a five person scientific team. Vanessa doesn’t know what’s happened apart from she was hit over he head and is now tied up in a boat. A the story progresses the scientists disappear until only two are left. As the body count rises and it’s up to Vince and Johan to keep those left safe and rescue the others, will everyone survive???? Can they rescue Dr Sanchez before it’s to late???? As always an awesome some and fantastic characters. Everything you want from a book with suspense, intrigue, the odd kidnapping and gunfights.

I started this book and finished it in one day. Would have been one sitting if the"real world" had not interrupted me! Loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. Loved the story-line. Something different from other books in the series, yet just as interesting. Loved the way Dale always has an interesting story line that pulls you in from the start and keeps you engrossed throughout the entire book. There were some crazy tense moments during the book that had me rooting for the main characters. If you like intense books, with action and suspense, you will love this book. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

This is book 19 in the Heroes For Hire series and it features Vince and Vanessa. He’s headed to the Galápagos Islands to locate a missing team of researchers. When he locates Vanessa and her team, minus one doctor, it’s a race against time to locate the missing doctor before she ends up taken to another country. Even though there was a kiss here and there, I did NOT feel ANY romance in this entire book between Vince and Vanessa. Even when they started to take things to the next level at the end of the LAST chapter, the words being said were lacking emotion and any kind of depth. I am disappointed in the romance but not in the action/adventure.

The characters at Legendary Security are all fantastic and the action is great.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I am having a hard time with this book. Vanessa in general to me is not a vixen but a whiner. She repeatedly says the same time or the same question over and over. Several times Vince or Johan have brought up several different scenerios of Dr. Sanchez's disappearance and she still says, "(b)ut why?" I mean really how many times do we have to hear the same things over and over? Also I really didn't feel a connection between Vanessa or Vince. That connection came at the end.

The only plus for me was the dual POV. Normally that helps me to identify to the character but not in case. I can truly say that Vanessa wasn't a character that I enjoyed reading.
