Long before the Vikings landed on the North American continent, there was an ancient civilization in Wisconsin. Joseph writes a compelling archaeological history about this lost Bronze Age culture found beneath the depths of Rock Lake a culture the evidence suggests had a lively copper trade with the lost continent of Atlantis! An exciting voyage into our pre-Columbian heritage.
Frank Joseph is the pen name of Francis Joseph Collin, a former activist with the American Nazi Party/National Socialist White People's Party and the founder of the National Socialist Party of America. In 1979, Collin was convicted of child molestation and sentenced to seven years in prison, and he lost his position in the party.
Upon his release from prison, Collin reinvented himself under the pseudonym of Frank Joseph, a New Age writer and a pagan worshiper. In 1987, he had his first New Age book published, The Destruction of Atlantis: Compelling Evidence of the Sudden Fall of the Legendary Civilization.
He wrote articles for the magazine Fate, and between 1993 and 2007 he was also an editor of Ancient American. This magazine focuses on what it considers to be evidence of ancient, pre-Columbian transoceanic contact between the Old World and North America, with the implication that all complex aspects of North America's indigenous cultures must have originated on other continents.
I found this book absolutely fascinating as I grew up near Aztalan and swam in Rock Lake many times not really knowing anything about the history of the area. I recall going to the Aztalan mounds for a field trip and the only thing I remember is my brother finding a skeleton of a small bird, hahaha... I do recall hearing the rumors of the sunken pyramids in Rock lake so this book was an excellent guide to the sunken structures that are known in this lake. I am curious if the Koskonong mounds have any relevant connections as well as I recall they were more publicized to us locals than Aztalan.
I saw some complaints about the psychic research however I found them very enjoyable to read as I do believe that some people have the abilities to tap into that energy. There is much evidence proving the relevance of psychic research in many missing persons/murder cases so why not utilize it for ancient artifacts???
All in all I highly enjoyed the book, and am very pleased to have stumbled upon it.
I read this one several years ago, but found it full of information I sure as hell never learned in school....even in Wisconsin. Although anything Atlantis is criticized as mumbo-jumbo by someone, somewhere, I find it a very good book to read for anyone with the imagination to believe that the ground remembers, that the legends are true, and that some things really should be held sacred. Regardless, it is full of good information about a culture that is not respected in any world history lesson and is not, in any way, concerned with Wisconsin's folk tales. To the best of my knowledge, it is factual. I may want to revisit it one day. It's been fourteen years at least.
I did not enjoy this as much as The Lost Pyramids of Rock Lake but there was enough new information to keep the interest. I think parts of the book were drawn out but still an interesting work.
