The Root of all Religion

Rate this book
2018 Reprint of 1936 Pamphlet Edition. 36 Pages. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. Alvin Boyd Kuhn (1880 –1963) was an American Theosophist. A publisher who wrote books that he published himself, he lectured and was a proponent of the Christ myth theory. Highly influenced by the work of Gerald Massey and Godfrey Higgins, Kuhn contended that the Bible derived its origins from other Pagan religions and much of Christian history was pre-extant as Egyptian mythology. He also proposed that the Bible was symbolic and did not depict real events and argued that the leaders of the church started to misinterpret the bible at the end of the third century.

The esoteric nature of the content makes this a challenging read, but present here is the thought that religion was intentionally misunderstood and misrepresented to the masses which has caused the chaos that exists today. Christ was always meant to be interpreted as the spiritual pinnacle of man, but the concept was turned into a man born of God that was a singular individual, no longer an example of what all individuals should strive for, the Christ consciousness within their own being. Very interesting reading.

“For it hints at the central truth of all dogma, that the Christ is an element in the psychological constitution of every son of man, and not an individual figure in history! Each evolved animal, standing at the threshold of human ordination, was to receive a divine guest, to share life with him under the same fleshly roof, in the same physical tabernacle.” Alvin Boyd Kuhn is not for the faint of heart, if you are going to engage with his type of scholarship, you must be ready with an open mind and a strong heart.
