Various is the correct author for any book with multiple unknown authors, and is acceptable for books with multiple known authors, especially if not all are known or the list is very long (over 50).

If an editor is known, however, Various is not necessary. List the name of the editor as the primary author (with role "editor"). Contributing authors' names follow it.

This book is a true gem, bursting with remarkable animal tales taken from great pieces such as Rascal <3, My Dog Tulip, and Travels with Charley. Although I already read a few of the pieces in this book, there were several that surprised me . While it's a great nudge to reread my favorites, this book also has me searching out new authors, which always makes me incredibly happy.

This book kept me in constant tears, both tears of laughter and tears of grief. I particularly loved how Two-Tom the cat found the missing grave for Grammer, the hysterical image of Rex, the bull terrier, dragging a chest of drawers home and wrestling it up the stairs in the middle of the night, the heartbreaking but inspiring story of Pooch, and the beautiful life of Skip, the best friend of a boy who outgrew him.

I'm amazed that such an impressive collection of animal stories and poems has so few reviews. This will be one of those books I plan on keeping forever but will no doubt soon give away to the first friend who is captivated by my ramblings about it.

With the friendly title and the cover with the "peaceable kingdom" arrangement of animals, I expected this to be a book for animal lovers. Several of the stories were fine. I could barely endure these climaxes, however: a lion having his head shot off, an entire pod of whales being slaughtered, and a bird-mating ritual where the female is obliterated by a farmer.
