Yates, now a 7th-degree black belt, has updated his classic book to include the addition of the 3rd-degree black belt level form, kae-beck, and other developments in the world of taekwon do. But the basics are still here, including white belt fundamentals and in-depth analyses of 14 forms, in a comprehensive, easy-to-read format and a classy new package.
Keith D. Yates is Chairman of the Gospel Martial Arts Union. He is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary where he serves as adjunct professor. A tenth degree black belt, he is also the president of the American Karate and Tae Kwon Do Organization.
The little foot diagrams underneath the photos were my favorite part of this book. (Ok, and giggling about the clothing and hairstyles in most of the photos.) In all seriousness, though, this book does have great step-by-step photos of each form.
Confession: We bought this as a reference book and didn't read it straight through. So far we've liked what we've seen and/or used to reinforce what he's learned in class.
