This book is a great fun read for those who like The Bowery Boys (and I have all of their 48 films on DVD).

Not only are all their films covered, but also all films from the other series ( East Side Kids, etc) that preceded them.

Profiles of the stars who appeared in these movies are also covered - an updated edition of the book would be great as the book was published in the 80's, but overall the book is very satisfying.

The Bowery Boys movies were fun to watch, even though they followed a set formula and if viewed in large doses could seem repetitive. But nearly all of them were good entertainments, usually running for about 65 minutes. The film makers at Monogram/Allied Artists made the most of their low budgets and quick film making schedules.

A minor aspect of Hollywood history treated with great knowledge and love. The Bowery Boys (nee the dead End Kinds, and AKA the East Side Kids) are largely forgotten today, but their films were all over TV in the late 1950s and early 1960s after their long running theatrical series at Mongram/Allied Artists was cancelled.
