'Comanche Trail' is the seventh and final novel in the Tony Hillerman's Frontier series. The entire series, featured Army Captain Jean Benoit with a support cast of characters, a mix of fiction and history blended together. Set in Santa Fe, New Mexico prior to the Civil War, been an entertaining series to read and put off reading this one.

Each novel in the series, tells the story of Captain Benoit, about his Army life, meeting his wife Inge, his twin daughters Ellen and Colleen, his friendship with Army Surgeon Jason Dobbs and various Native American Indian tribes mixed in.

Since it's one of several older Western series, that you wish was continued further, at least be brought back in print or be available as ebooks. It's a hard to find series, depending on where you live too find it used and partly due to the small print number each novel was published with.

I'm giving this two because it was totally forgettable. I liked the way he described the Comanches but the rest of the characters and storyline was very forgettable. I have not read other books on this series so perhaps that is the problem.
