A text book of fibre science and technology
Focussing on the fundamentals of natural and manmade fibres, this book systematically explains fibre extraction/production, structure, properties and uses. Recent developments like different aliphatic and aromatic polyamides, ployimides, novoloids, polycarbonates, carbon, high performance polyethylenes, etc. have also been explained in a simplified manner. Diverse applications of fibres have been included to illustrate their use and utility. This book will serve as a basic text for both Diploma and Degree students of all textile disciplines. It would also serve as a useful reference for researchers and professionals engaged in this area. About The S.P. Mishra is Principal of the Institute of Textile Technology, Choudwar. Dr. Mishra holds B.Sc. (Tech) in Textile Technology from Calcutta University; M. Tech and Ph.D in Fibre Science and Technology from I.I.T, Delhi. He was awarded C.S.I.R. Research Associateship (1981-84), for independent research on polyester fibre. He then served SSM Institute of Textile Technology, Komarapalayam (1984-87) as Head of Department, Man-made Fibre Technology and later Alagappa University, Karaikudi (1987-1998), as Reader in Textile Chemistry.
