This brave man was born again while preaching as a church pastor in 19th century England. Despite being a pastor of a Church of England church, he believed at first only in salvation through the offices and traditions of that church. He was shocked to find out that salvation can only come through believing in Jesus Christ! He recounts here his many experiences in helping others come to that realization and be born again.

Written by a mid-19th century English clergyman in Cornwall, this book tells the story of his life. He begins as a high church Anglican, following many of the ideas of the founders of the Oxford Movement. He serves a church in Cornwell, where he is converted to evangelicalism. He then discusses his subsequent ministry, and the conversion of many souls during this time. Some of the latter part of the book becomes quite repetitive, but it is a fascinating story. The author shows evangelicalism at its best. The book also provides some insights into life in Cornwall, which although more mundane, is also interesting.

This book covers a revival that occurred in the 19th century. This began miraculously as a result of the conversion of the parson whilst he was preaching a sermon - he was convicted by his own sermon. A revival then followed.
