I was obsessed with this library book as a kid and had to buy a used copy as an adult. It's an odd story about two dog(?) cousins who fight and play pranks on each other during the holidays. The moments of cousin rivalry are memorable. The illustrations are truly awful. The nostalgia factor and weirdness make it a 5-star read for me!
Just ugly little creatures having a horrible time together. What I like about this is that it is very relatable - we all have family we don't get along well with and cannot wait for the season to be over so we won't have to see them for 11 months!
When I check out a book from the library to read to my kids, I usually read them twice before taking them back. I wont read this one again, and I don't recommend anyone read it to their kids once. The entire book is about how two kids are always mean to each other and how much they enjoy doing it. Not a lesson I hope to instill in my kids.
This book showed the relationship between two mischevious cousins that try to make life difficult for each other. The book was illustrated very uniquely and had clever endings to the stories.
