Il est notamment l'auteur de Histoire de France, La Révolution de 1917, L'Histoire des colonisations, qui ont été de grands succés et ont été traduits dans de nombreuses langues. Il a animé Histoire paralléle sur Arte.

About the author

Marc Ferro (born 24 December 1924 in Paris) was a French historian. He worked on early twentieth-century European history, specialising in the history of Russia and the USSR, as well as the history of cinema.

He was Director of Studies in Social Sciences at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales. He was a co-director of the French review Annales and co-editor of the Journal of Contemporary History.

He also directed and presented television documentaries on the rise of the Nazis, Lenin and the Russian revolution, and on the representation of history in cinema.

Yazar İslam toplumları için ilk şokun Kırım'ın kaybedilmesi olduğunu, ikinci şokun ise İsrail'in kurulması olduğunu belirtiyor. Diğer şok ise yazara göre Pakistan'ın bölünmesidir. Kitapta Mısır, Cezayir, Rusya, İran ve Türkiye önemli yer kaplıyor. Neredeyse her yer hakkında yazar bir şeyler söylemiş. Uzun bir zamana yaydığım için çok fazla hatırlamıyorum. Bilhassa ikinci dünya savaşı sonrasına daha çok yer verilmiş. Bu dönemle ilgili daha fazla malumat ve yorum bulmak mümkün. Yazar kitabı alt başlıklara bölse de konu kendi içinde genişliyor, hacmi küçük ama konuların takibini o kadar yapamadım. Çeviriden de olabilir benim uzun zamana yaymış olmamdan da kaynaklanabilir.

Marc Ferro, describes thoroughly all the struggle between modernity and Islam regardless the geographical differences in wich it was performed. It's a struggle between secularist or atheist military leaders, mullahs, revolutionaries and terrorists over the interpretation of the islamic faith and culture in modern life.
