Change your life and become an inspiring, passionate praying warrior who proclaims God's Word with this refreshingly honest guide to strengthening your faith.
If you want positive results from prayer, you first need to pray! But so many people who say they believe in the power of prayer actually pray very little . . . or not at all. It's time to get serious about prayer. Autumn Miles says that we must stop being prayer wimps and instead be transformed into "prayer gangsters"--people who are passionate about their faith and loyalty to God.
Autumn believes that God wants to give us so much more than what we've been settling for. It's time our prayer life, which has been mediocre at best, becomes something that
Fervent,intentional,and highly expectant.
Gangster Prayer won't teach you how to pray. Instead, it will help reveal the heart behind a believing prayer and put the focus back on who we are praying to instead of on what we are praying for. With a changed perspective and objective, we can finally see the results from prayer we've been longing for--not just answers but a changed life.
I started my year off with Gangstar Prayer. Autumn sheds new light on different aspects of prayer and her personal testimonies are refreshing. She's very open and candid. I appreciate that. Also, she has based everything on scripture. Great book! I will be passing it along to my circle of praying friends!
Is your prayer life in a rut? Do you pray general prayers without a lot of passion to them? Does it feel like God is answering other people's prayers but not yours? If so, I would encourage you to read Gangster Prayer by Autumn Miles and your just may give your prayer life a boost.
What is Gangster Prayer anyway? Autumn Miles says the short version of gangster prayer can be defined this way: "intentional, tenacious, relentless communication with God that focuses on His might as the source for the answers we seek an don the gospel of Jesus Christ, which gives us access to that power." She also said that this whole book is the long version of how to pray like a gangster. She starts Gangster Prayer by explaining how God gave her a wake-up call to pray more fervently. She said that God got her attention by telling her that real-life gangsters are more passionate about their mission of evil than she was about her mission of prayer. Then throughout Gangster Prayer, Miles gives a lot of guidance and pointers on improving your prayer life, with specific stories to back up her helpful advice.
Gangster Prayer is a dynamic book about prayer. Miles is both encouraging and uplifting. However, she is not necessarily gentle in her wording. Instead, as she will tell you, she is straight forward and often blunt in telling Christians what they need to do and why she believes God wants them to do it that way. I like that she doesn't beat around the bush. I also appreciate that she shares a lot of personal stories that backed up her points. This book left me feeling like I could make a real difference with prayer in my life and those I prayer for. She tells us that it is important to prayer passionately and specifically for what we want while still trusting that God is in charge and does what is best for his children. If you are looking to improve your prayer life, I would encourage you to give Gangster Prayer a try. Gangster Prayer would be a great book for a Sunday School class or a small group to use. There are questions to ask at the end of each chapter that give pause for reflection--helpful in a group or answering on your own.

Autumn Miles’ book “Gangster Prayer” challenges readers to either make prayer a priority or take it to the next level. Drawing upon Scripture, personal stories, and the stories of others, she easily backs up the principles she presents. Why “gangster prayer?” Miles says she was watching a TV docuseries on crime when God said to her, “Criminals are more passionate about doing evil than you are about praying.” Convicted Miles began a journey, growing in prayer. She defines “gangster prayer” as “intentional, tenacious, relentless communication with God that focuses on His might as the source for the answers we seek and on the gospel of Jesus Christ, which gives us access to that power.”
I thoroughly enjoyed Miles’ conversational manner and her transparency in her book Gangster Prayer. I felt almost as if we were sitting together chatting over a cup of tea.. I could feel her desire for me, the reader, to experience the power of life-changing relationship with God in prayer. Besides Miles’ friendly and honest tone, readers will also appreciate Miles’ end-of-chapter questions that help them process and put into action what God is teaching them. The questions are thought provoking and extremely practical. Gangster Prayer is the perfect read for someone new to prayer or for someone who longs for refreshing. Thank you, Autumn Miles, for the challenges and for the encouragement. I look forward to seeing more answers to prayer as I trust God and experience more of him.

I absolutely loved this book. It will be on my top 9 book list for 2020. I rarely read anything twice, but this will certainly be one I plan to read again and again.
Autumn Miles is a faith force to be reckoned with. She was watching a TV show one day that detailed the devotion of gang members to their leaders and to their crimes. God convicted her that the gangs were more committed to evil than the Christians were to prayer. At the beginning she honestly admits that, “I was missing out on a world of possibility because I was too lazy in prayer.”
I am on my own spiritual journey with God and am thankful for a book like this to encourage me to continue walking in faith, believing for the seemingly impossible. I’m facing two such situations right now that I’ve been praying for like crazy. This book was a catalyst for praying more specifically. Autumn emphasized that offering big prayers to God is exactly what pleases him because, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.” (Heb. 11:6) And “What is a miracle to them can be normal to you.” She said, “Satan didn’t want me to pray because he wanted to keep me from the power that prayer would produce in my life.”
I’ll share one final thought from the book. “It doesn’t say to exit His gates with thanksgiving; it says, ‘Enter His gates with thanksgiving.’” Before the miracle comes, He is worthy of praise because His character is good.
I found this book so faith giving, that I immediately purchased it for a friend to whom I knew it would be a blessing. She read it in one sitting!! (Yes, it’s that good),
I received an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
Gangster Prayer is a spiritual growth book by author Autumn Miles. Written from the standpoint that gangsters are more passionate about evil than some Christians are about prayer. This is where the author found herself in her prayer life.
I have to admit the title disturbed me at first until I learned the reason behind it. The reason the author wrote this book is that she is obsessed with seeing what God does for His children when we seek Him on His terms through prayer. (p# 4)
What I treasured most about the book is the use of scripture and Jesus to confirm what the author was conveying. The author is someone I would want to get to know. I like her personable personality. From getting her nails done to something more serious: prayer.
I recommend this book to Christians who struggle with their prayer life. Because the author gives examples from her life and does not force her tips on the reader.
