Me & My Borderline Personality Disorder

Rate this book
“BPD? What, like a schizo? No? But you do hear voices, right? No? OK, but you do see dead people? No? Well, all I can say mate is that we all feel a bit down sometimes, so I’m sure you’ll get over it”

Hi. I’m James. I’m not a doctor, psychologist or a therapist. I’m just a regular ‘Joe’ who, until three years ago, had absolutely no idea who his true ‘self’ was. I have a Borderline Personality Disorder.

Having lived through 20 plus years of undiagnosed mental health issues, writer James Perrett makes his debut foray into non-fiction with his personal reflections on living with BPD. With a complete disregard for boring text books and an extremely lazy approach to research, James provides a unique insight into the thoughts, feelings and occasional odd behaviours associated with an often misunderstood, highly stigmatized, mental health issue.

This is a 'quick read', with a read time of approximately 2 hours.

It’s a interesting read, a bit short as it says in the description, but only 99p on kindle, so not expensive. I always think it’s quite brave of anyone to talk about their problems so publicly and this is no exception. James talks about his problems in an almost self depreciating way and in places it’s quite funny as well as quite sad. Would recommend to anyone with mental health issues or anyone supporting someone with them. This is the second book by this author I’ve read and it’s really interesting how he can swing from his real world into the fiction he creates.

Good insight

I chose this rating as I found it a well written and candid book, it gave me a lot of insight on what happens inside of a BPD mind. Lot of food for thought.
