Douglas Owen is a writer of fiction, science fiction, horror, and crime fiction that is often referred to as descriptive, imaginative and ranging from the believable to the outlandish.
He was a contributing writer and circulation coordinator for IndyFest! Magazine (previously Self-Publisher! Magazine).
From 2014 to 2016, Doug contributed content to IndyFest! Magazine with his column A WRITTEN VIEW. The column focuses on assisting writers and creators on fine tuning their craft. He covers such subjects as the writing process to publishing on a shoestring budget. Doug also published interviews with artists, writers, and people in the publishing industry.
In 2013, Doug was requested to participate in WORDPLAY 2013, EMERGING WRITERS OF YORK REGION. His story, LONELY, gained high praise from all participants.
MashStories published his flash science fiction story, THE SHIP, in 2014. They shortlisted the story in their quarterly magazine. They have also shortlisted his flash fiction story, DISPOSAL, the following quarter.
Doug continues to publish his fiction in online magazines, small press magazines and through Science Fiction and Fantasy Publications, Wicked Tales, and Tumbleweed Books, which he is the managing editor.
Born in Scarborough, Ontario, Doug has struggled with a serious addiction to reading, and spent many hours creating outlandish backgrounds for AD&D characters. In the corporate world, Doug wrote sales and customer service manuals for Volkswagon, Suzuki, and AIC. 2010 he started to take his writing more series, and has enjoyed the journey. He called Markham, ON home for more than a decade and has lived in Stouffville, ON, and now calls Goodwood, Ontario home with his wife and three of the strangest cats anyone has ever seen.
