Maddie was so worked up that she didn’t get to improvise her own routine! However, it was an interesting story and I learned a decent amount about ballet.

This is a short book about ballet, which introduces you to the basic positions and terms associated with ballet.
The main character is a curious girl named Jamie. She is very happy when 2 more-experienced ballerinas come to teach them some more complicated ballet moves, and also when they all get to choose their own characters and dances for their first recital.
I was kinda sad that they seemed to focus only on Jamie's dance at the recital. I wanted to see the other children's recital dances as well.

This is an excellent book for girls starting to read by themselves. It would also be appropriate for grade school age family reads. The book is about a little girl preparing for her first ballet recital, where she and her friends can show their friends and family everything they have learned. It includes some fantastic full color photographs and a glossary complete with pronunciation, which will help with any new dance terminology.
