I couldn't fall in love with him because there was no guarantee how long he'd stay.
A History in Paris is the fourth and final book in a second chance romance series from International Bestselling Author, Hanleigh Bradley. They say that Paris is the city of love. For Kenneth Delos, the ex-mayor of London, it's something else; the city of his love, the city of his youth, the city of his heartbreak.
Paris is the city that holds his deepest, darkest secrets.
It's the place where he first fell in and out of love. It's the place where Michelle Spencer left him and their children. It's the city of his past, and it holds a history that won't stay buried.
Now years after his time in Paris, Kenneth and Michelle tell their children of their history in Paris.
A History In Paris is a companion novella to the History Series, from Internationally Bestselling Author Hanleigh Bradley. This story has no Happy Ever After. This is the history that Clara has been hiding from.
"It was lovely and heartbreaking, full of sad truths and a sad ending."

Hanleigh is a USA Today Bestselling Author and is about as English as it's possible to be, without actually being English.

She first fell in love with books as a child reading Dr Seuss, but moved onto romance when she first read Pride and Prejudice at the age of twelve. She wishes she could live inside the world inside her mind, but since that isn't possible she puts pen to paper and shares that world with her readers instead.

AMAZING!❤HEARTFELT!
A sad broken story that gives you better insight into the past lives of the characters we've opened our hearts to laying their deep throbbing wounds open that molded them into who they've become and why they love and live without feeling the true joy that love and life has to offer! Raw, intense, edgy, a war of painful heartfelt emotions, engrossing twists and at times hard to put down! An amazing must read!

Hanleigh Bradley, thank you for writing such a passionate and emotional story!

I simply fell in love with A History in Paris. I love the way it was written, in the past when Kenneth and Michelle first met, then in the present day. To me, it gave the story depth and added meaning. The story itself starts out sweet and heartwarming, with Kenneth and Michelle meeting and falling in love, then as their lives unfold, you can feel the bitterness and heartache coming. Both had issues with their parents yet they were content living away from the life their parents wanted for them. Until it became too difficult to hide the secrets. My heart went out to Kenneth because he just wanted to live happily with Michelle and their new little family. He wanted to come clean with everyone and share what the two of them had together, all the while Michelle wanted to keep everything a secret.

This was a very powerful story, full of lots of emotion. The author did an amazing job squeezing in such a big story into a novella length story. I wasn't sure she could pull it off, but she did. You can certainly enjoy A History in Paris even if you're not familiar with the other stories in the series. And yes, I definitely recommend it. Five stars from an author who knows how to fill your heart with amazing words.

this couple met and began building a family in Paris. Before the age of cell phone and snapchat, and facetime or skype.

She never wanted to admit to her family that they were married - and with children.

She never told her parents, even when she returned to England and he wrote to her.

Months abandoned, he finally wrote to her that he had returned to England with his parents, that the children and he missed her dearly and wanted to hear from her - and she returned divorce papers.

Oddly, he let his folks continue to think that he was widowed. He never remarried. She did, and had two daughters, with a husband who knew the truth, and children who did not. She met rarely for lunch with her sons, was refused contact by their daughter, and was only forced to tell her family the truth when it was picked up by the press.

He wants their daughter to hear the whole of the story from him to encourage her to not let her own heart stay broken with her own broken love.

achingly sad, though the story starts so sweet and full of promise. you cannot remain someone's dirty little secret though and remain happy.

For me was heartbreaking in equal as disturbing.
Going thru so many emotions. Love and betrayal.
Michelle never was and still is not approachable person. She did want she wanted without looking who is hurt in the process.
And she has a guts to tell Aurora when she moved with Landon that this is not appropriate..
Talking about skeleton in the closet...three kids and husband.
You don’t expect this kind of thing from thirty years old woman. She has regrets...she should

This is the story of Ken and Michelle who are the parents of Clara who is the main character in the first three books of this stories. We heard about them through Clara’s perspective but now we get theirs.

This is a story about choices made both good and bad and that true happiness only comes when you choose what is right for you and not what others choose for you. It is emotional and heartbreaking for all involved. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A History in Paris is not your typical love story. Bradley introduces us to Kenneth Delos a 20-something-year-old who escapes to Paris. He is running away from his parents who have dreams of Kenneth becoming a politician. However, it's not what he wants. While he is there trying to sort himself out, Kenneth meets Michelle. A woman studying French literature. They start off as strangers, then friends, and eventually lovers. Kenneth decides that he will stay in Paris because of Michelle. But Michelle feels that she might be holding him back from his future.

As the two get closer, both Kenneth and Michelle refuse to tell their parents about their relationship. The book transitions from the past to the present. The story is told by both Kenneth and Michelle's perspectives. Kenneth and Michelle settle into their lives in Paris, but never tell their parents about their relationship and the pregnancy of their first child.

Eventually, the burden becomes too much and they leave the city where they elope. But once they come back to Paris, the weight of the lie is too much and it tests the marriage.

Once their first son is born, things seem normal. However, when Michelle's parents write about her coming home (by this time they have three children). Michelle's fear of being disowned by her parents causes the rift between her and Kenneth which ultimately makes her leave for home and never return.

Michelle divorces Kenneth, leaving him to raise the three children on his own (with the help of his parents).

Analysis:

What I found interesting about the book was the fact that despite Michelle's fears of Kenneth going back to England and becoming a politician, she was right. Michelle wanted to keep her life and her family she created with Kenneth in Paris in private. The decision to not tell her parents and never sending the letter made it a little bit easier for her. On the other hand, I believe that it was her choice to leave coupled with Kenneth’s inability to take care of the children which ultimately causes Kenneth to become Mayor.

Hanleigh does a great job of showing the complexity of the relationship between Kenneth and Michelle. It was a relationship made of good and bad decisions, some worse than others. These two were never meant to last. But at least they will always have Paris.

What a sad roller coaster of a ride this story is. I was up and down with emotion as I read this. My heart was breaking with sorrow of not acknowledging family and what a destructive path this leads loved ones on. So much avoidable heartache.

This book is best read in conjunction with the previous books for it to make much sense, even though those books are not about these two. I unfortunately did not do this so walked into the story where it was been told both in the present and the past lives of our two main characters Kenneth and Michelle. These two are the parents of Clara the girl in the previous books. This books gives us insight into the hidden past of these adults and the love once shared and what happens when you bury your head in the sand and become afraid of disappointing parents and eventually yourself. It's a sad story where it shows us that love, no matter how strong is oftentimes not enough.

Everyone seems to forget that our parents led entire lives with and without each other before us. We forget/or neglect to acknowledge that their lives weren't perfect. They felt love, friendship, pain, insecurities, heart break and made some questionable decisions. This book reminds you that no matter how much you think you know about your parents, you don't know it all. Also reminds you that your parents might have been a little more adventurous than you know them to be today. I found this book filled with love and tragedy. Disappointment and explanations. The decision to let go of the past or maybe not being willing to forgive. Everyone in this story handles the same love and loss differently. This was a great read and I would definitely read it again.

This book is best read in order of the previous books for you to understand the start of everything. You are told in the past and the present lives of the two main characters Kenneth and Michelle. As the parents of Clara from the previous books, it gives you such an insight into the past of them as young adults. The love they once shared between them but the deep secrets that were kept will eventually come out. This is such a sad story about a love no matter how strong may not be enough, Paris was everything to Kenneth it's where his life truly started for him. You will have to read it to find out how it all ends...…….

This was a wonderful book to read. It was lovely and heartbreaking, full of sad truths and a sad ending. I don’t think the author wanted it to be your typical book, she put real purpose into the characters and their story. She made you stick to the story until the very end. This is one of those books that you’d love be turned into a movie.
This is my first book by Hanleigh Bradley and I absolutely loved it. I received this book in return for an honest review.

This was a sad book to read. The story takes place in between Deleting History and Forging History. It’s short and brutal story of how Clara finds out about her mother and the story behind it. It ends abruptly, ready for you to go immediately into Forging History. I’m glad I read it because it answers a lot of questions but it was hard to read.

This story is definitely sad. Also quite unbelievable. But seems real still. It started so sweetly. And finished bitter. No happy ever after, but that’s real life ending after all. I appreciated it. I didn’t read others books in this series, but this companion book can be read separately.

Kenneth and Michelle's story was bittersweet. Having read Clara's books and Aurora's books, I already had an idea of how this had to end. It was a beautiful romance, even though it was doomed.
