I read the fourth edition while doing some personal research (not for a class.)
Both for my specific purposes and in comparison to textbooks I have used for a science major I found this textbook disappointing. There were many sloppy editing errors in the charts and weak case studies. One of the chapters that was of particular interest to me was comprised mostly of commercial public education resources none of which was applicable to dentistry except in the most general sense, which does not increase my confidence in either the writer or the subsequent editors' expertise.

Obviously you don't read this unless you're required. Many of the other Dental Hygiene textbooks hash out the same info.

Though written for dental hygienists, it’s a book about life.
