Hacia un nuevo humanismo [Towards a New Humanism] is a well researched and concise treatise on philosophical anthropology by renowned Mexican author Samuel Ramos. The book begins by clearly laying out Ramos's thesis that a crisis has emerged in the wake of the mind-body dualism advanced by Descartes, Kant, and Comte, and then makes a strong case for the recuperation of moral obligations as a "bridge between the real and the ideal" capable of achieving harmony and wholeness in our fragmented age.

The text frequently cites the German phenomenologist and personalist philosopher Max Scheler as the intellectual heart of this new project of integral philosophy, but the text also bears much resemblance to Jacques Maritain's Integral Humanism, which may have influenced Ramos as well. Whatever the roots these reflections, Hacia un nuevo humanismo stands as an innovative and engaging text that continues to speak to our times.

Recommended to students of 20th century philosophy as well as students of Latin American Studies interested in the philosophical and political movements in Latin America in the years following the decline of positivism.

Con un Ramos de corte más clásico, la obra se despliega sabrosa en fundamentos y argumentos, hermanando sus propuestas con la filosofía latinoamericana de su tiempo, que no hacía otra cosa más que abrirse, después de una ontología regional —la cuál logra en «El perfil del hombre y la cultura en México»— hacia el terreno de la filosofía universal, en el que el mayor problema a tratar no es otro más que el del ser humano.
