Phillip Strang is a well-travelled writer who has spent considerable time in many remote and exotic parts of the World installing telecommunication networks.
A number of years in Afghanistan and Pakistan have given him a good insight into the culture of both of these countries, and an understanding of the problems they jointly share. In recent years, there have been extended periods throughout many countries in Africa including Liberia, Nigeria, and Guinea.
Murder Without Reason is book thirteen in the DCI Isaac Cook series by Phillip Strang. Islamic State is raising havoc in London, and a young teenage boy became the latest suicide bomber, and his friend was arrested. DCI Isaac Cook became involved in this case due to his new role as a senior member of the London Counter Terrorism Command at Scotland Yard. However, for DCI Isaac Cook, some of the actions he has to take are against his ethics as a law enforcement officer. Will DCI Isaac Cook follow orders or not? The readers of Murder Without Reason will continue to follow DCI Isaac Cook and the team of the London Counter Terrorism Command investigation to discover what happened.
I found Murder Without Reason does not fit in with the last twelve books in this series. I also did not engage with the story of the characters in this book. However, I did enjoy Phillip Strang's portrayal of his characters and their interactions. I also liked Phillip Strang's description of the settings of Murder Without Reason, which complemented the book's plot.
Murder Without Reason teaches readers about political corruption and how it can affect everyone involved. I recommend this book.
Murder Without Reason - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
DCI Isaac Cook must endure emotional extremes in this shocking, gritty, adrenaline-pumping crime-thriller, Murder Without Reason, by the sensational Phillip Strang.
Islamic extremists plot a takeover of the UK by stealth, torture, martyrdom, acts of terrorism decided by their leader, only known as the Master. His most fervent followers have infiltrated prisons, the Armed Forces and the police, and inspired disaffected Asians to become tools of a so-called holy war, that will end in their deaths as 'martyrs'. How can Isaac and his team predict and prevent the impending campaign that will see thousands of innocent victims lose their lives and loved ones?
Bang up-to-date, with themes of violence and radicalisation in prison life, corruption and obfuscation at the highest level of British politics and revealing the workings of the police - analysts, interpersonal relationships and how those in charge must occasionally exercise ethical judgements, (that lead to life-changing events) for the greater good.
