Gerald William (December 30, 1893 - January 3, 1958) was a British novelist, essayist, short story writer, critic and poet. He wrote both supernatural fiction and some children's literature.
He was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge. During World War II he worked for the BBC in London, and after the war was a radio broadcaster.
An obscure collection of short stories from 1924 by a mostly (today) unknown author. A couple of the stories may be considered duds, but on the whole it is an enjoyable collection. Two stories get into the supernatural. The longest story, in four parts, is "The House at Maadi." The story has an interesting twist, with some humor midway through. It was disappointing, though, that no local color of Maadi was provided; the story starts and ends there but may as well have been set in Tokyo as Cairo.
