When Gloria, Buster's owner, becomes the victim of a home invasion that leaves Buster with a broken leg, Angela is horrified. Still, with Chief Gary on the case, she's sure the guilty party will be found. But when Gloria asks her to look into it, Angela can't say no. After all, Buster is practically family at this point.
What Angela thinks is a simple home invasion turns out to be more when another victim appears, this time way up in Portland. As Sophie and Angela struggle to find a link between the two victims, they soon find themselves with more questions than answers. And why does Angela keep getting the feeling Jason is hiding something from her?
Will Angela be able to solve the crimes and find the killer before yet another body is discovered?
Busy as a Beaver is the eighth and final book in the Willow Bay Witches series of paranormal cozy mysteries. It's a full-length novel full of funny and sarcastic best friends, a touch of magic, a snarky talking cat and a little bit of romance.
Samantha Silver lives in British Columbia, Canada, along with her husband and seventeen-year-old dog named Terra.
When she's not writing cozy mysteries, Samantha loves travelling (she's most recently been to Egypt, Jordan and Florida) skiing, eating Dairy Queen, and complaining about how hard running is.
An exceptionally fun and entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series

I have to say that if this was her first series she's let a lot slip since. Whilst these all have basic errors that a proofreader should have picked up on they're not the worst.
They do lack any real plotting, they are almost entirely solved by chance instead of logic or progression through clues. They are rather too conveniently rewarded with huge sums just when it's needed..
Two house invasions, one in Willow Bay and the other in Portland, stir them into another investigation when the first victim is Bee's boyfriends "mother", Gloria. Gloria is the lucky one as Buster manages to distract the attacker long enough for her to escape (funny how the attackers injuries from this were never mentioned) the second victim didn't survive. But what links the two? Why invade the homes of two retired people who live on a budget, demand the money and yet take absolutely nothing from either home? And why at the very end was almost every dollar recovered the reward? Surely not. It's usually a percentage of.. and I find it odd that Charlotte got anything when she wasn't a part of solving this mystery! Anti climatic.
Meanwhile Jason's very obviously hiding plans to propose. Was way too obvious.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I loved this final book of the series. Happy endings all around, my favorite. The main characters are all in great places. No hometown folk died, the beavers are safe. All is well in Willow Bay.
After Gloria is attacked in her home by a man looking for money, Angela and Sophie are looking for the attacker. Jason treats Angela to a weekend trip to Hawaii and while there proposes.
