Ugh.....

I powered through two books before I just couldn’t anymore. The story started with potential, but the writing was absolutely horrid. Every other sentence reminded us that the main character was a Wyvern and how “special” she was, but then made her ridiculously stupid, gullible, and just an over all train wreck of an MC. The writing seemed like something a tween would come up with and then there’s suddenly a tasteless sex scene. Bleh.

The Mage Chronicles Box Set by Joanna Mazurkiewicz is definitely a great series . It has everything in from action to magic and some romance which to honest I'm not a big fan of but it doesn't detract from this story and not something I'm going to penalize an author for because it's not my favorite thing in fantasy .
This book flows perfectly and the little bread crumbs she leaves through the story has you guessing what's going to happen next . The main character is believable as are the rest of the cast and you find yourself cheering them on and on the edge of your seat wondering about them like friends . The world building is excellent and you can imagine yourself there .
So all and all I definitely enjoyed this series from start to finish .
If your looking for a new series to start give this one a try you will not regret it (*_*)

Highly imaginative and exasperating at the same time!

Anyone who enjoys fantasy I'm pretty sure will enjoy this imaginative series.
The world building's easily imagined and the whole story is actually well written.
I really liked Astri's mix of self doubt from her appalling history - which is highly believable if you've ever been exposed to that sort of abuse combined with her sense of courage and right and wrong. She's also kind and thoughtful too...remarkably.
I also loved a number of the secondary characters.
My number one gripe however is that this really needs a thorough and comprehensive editing - the improvement would be the final icing on the cake!

Editor's note

I really enjoyed this story line. I thought it was creative. I didn't enjoy the writing style. I felt like the author thought I was dumb and couldn't remember what they wrote in the previous page.
Check your spelling, your autocorrect and maybe some punctuation. Great story was trashed with editorial errors.
A few wholes in the plot and scene jumping as well.

The series is full of exciting action, magic, danger, secrets, twists and turns, and romance. The story is mostly a YA fantasy, but there is some hot romantic scenes, so be aware of that. The world building is amazingly detailed so it was easy for me to place myself in the setting. I love the pace of the story and the way the things are revealed. There are little hints and insights that kept me on my toes trying to figure out what was going to happen next. My opinion on some of the characters changed as the series progressed, too. Never knowing who you could really trust added to the excitement. This is a wonderful story that any fantasy lover will enjoy.

Enthralling

Totally loved this box set I love being able to read straight through to the end and not have to wait for the next book. The story of Astri and Jorgan was full of wonderful characters, amazing adventures and great concise stories. From the beginning you are on Astri’s side as she struggles to live with her scar randomly her horrible Aunt and Uncle. Eventually she finds the courage to take her life into her own hands and her amazing journey begins. Along the way she finds love, friends and family. Highly recommended..

Could have been better

I rarely criticised books, for all bring some enjoyment but, the story about how Astri ended up with her aunt and uncle was repeated just too many times! I felt that I was constantly reading about when Astri was a child, and what happened to her, and how she was the last of her kind and I am sure, that with good editing then this would have been a box set of 3 not 4 books - and it would have been better for it.

Good story with some distracting typos

The plot was well-paced. The dialogue did not make me cringe. The characters were interesting and realistic enough. There are some distracting typographic errors. Damien is spelled three different ways in one of the early chapters. I believe there is also a spot where Edvard says he gave his daughter something that would “surpass” her abilities rather than “suppress” them.

memory's mirror

Austria's bears both internal and external scars left from her parent's murders. the memories are locked away in her mind. she dreams of the attack but not the attacker, until one night, she glimpses his face. and her world begins to unwind. for who he is could destroy her, or she could destroy him

A great read!

I very much enjoyed the story line of this series. At times it was a bit hard to follow but overall it was a great read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading as a means to escape to another world for a while because this series will absolutely draw you into Jorgan and Astri's world.

Only one suggestion

I read the entire series and for the most part really enjoyed it. I would suggest, however, that you give your readers some credit and not reiterate the entire back story more than once per book.

The characters were well written and the plots had lots of twists. All in all an enjoyable read.

Thank you

Readable and good basic story line

I really liked the basics of this story. However, the heroine seemed unable to decide what she believes or wants. Several redundancies in her emotional journey and romantic interludes. Intimate encounters were somewhat verbose and extraneous to the story. The concept was very good, but the actuality was somewhat disappointing.

Storyline was great

Story line was wonderful. I enjoyed reading this unique book. I do have to say the editing was awful. Many words were not as they should be and line ran together. It made reading choppy and difficult at times.

The story has much potential but it is poorly written. I found some parts redundant and it was hard staying focus. Interesting enough that I got through it but disappointed. Edits need to be made so readers can really enjoy Astri's adventures

Only good if you read all the books together

If you read only one book at a time, they are cliffhangers. But if you sit down and read them all at once then they make one complete book.

The Mage Cronicles Box Set

Really struggled to make it even through the first book. The main character is very wishy washy which made it difficult to really enjoy or follow the adventure that she was meant to be on.

Disappointing

The typos, words incorrectly used for example perspective instead of perceptive were very distracting. I found the plot, characters world building very interesting but was very distracted by inconsistencies and errors making enjoying this set very difficult.

Good development of a world and those characters you will soon know.

This is an amazing mix of people, places and things.
I was continually surprised by turns and twists I wasn't expecting.
In all ways, a most enjoyable reading experience.

Shapeshifters

I'd call this a fantasy romance, with plenty of adventure. Not exactly what I expected from synopsis, but has a well thought out magic system and the society was explained well. Typical romance protagonist, etc. Decent story. Solid 3 stars.

Great story line. Several mistakes with spelled words. For e ample the name Falcon in several places is Flacon. One sentenced where the word " decided" is used it is misspelled. Overall good read

Fair Enough

You get what you paid for, mainly. I guess I can say I got a bit more. This book series is for the people who like dramatic and over the top stuff. The basic story and plot is okay but it is not for the faint hearted.

A good read.

I enjoyed the story and characters. Every woman I know has dreamed of marrying a prince. Unfortunately Prince 's are few and far way but we can dream. An uplifting read with Fairys, Trolls, and evil twins! Enjoy!

Best thing about this is that it only cost me 99 cents, otherwise it would be 2 stars. Clueless heroine is filled with hate and vengeance and some lust thrown in to round out her character. Only after torturing the villain was she in a forgiving mood enough to kill him.

This box set is a good read. It will keep you entertained and you'll keep trudging through it. The reason I say trudging is the author gets very long winded in places and you'll have to push through it. But it is still a good read with ok characters. Good Reading Everyone!

Enjoyable adventure into fantasy

Action and plots within plots keeps you reading. You want to know what happens next. The story focus on the main characters and leaves it to your imagination to fill in the gaps.
