It is the goal of this book to present the physical principles of the important fields of physics in such a plan and with such aids that the student will find much interest and little difficulty in attaining an intellectually satisfying and practically useful understanding of basic physics. The start is made in light and geometrical optics where use can be made of relatively simple and probably familiar observations and where the analysis does not require vector notation.
