Bob Hamp

Coming from an unchurched background, he was unexpectedly ambushed by an encounter with God that changed the direction and foundation of his life forever. His unique slant on the Gospel is the result of looking through the lens of a counselor and sitting across from people in need for almost three decades.
Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas, Bob was in private practice for 16 years, helping people with every type of struggle imaginable. He then stepped into one of the fasting growing churches in Texas, where he spent nine years developing a discipleship strategy called Freedom Ministry.
Now, Bob with his wife Polly are the Owners and Directors of Think Differently Counseling, Coaching and Connecting; a counseling and training center in Grapevine, Texas. Specializing in freedom based counseling and coaching. They offer topical classes, training events and a Think Differently Training Certification program. Together they feel called to make disciples without building a congregation.
Bob and Polly have six grown kids, four grandchildren, and two corgis.

If you're a communicator (speaker, teacher, pastor, coach, human) who has a message to share, this book will help you deliver it in ways that change the listener, not just dump more information into their ears.
I'm internally gushing over an advance copy of this book.

Think Differently Learn Differently brings to light ways of learning and communicating that allows for real connection and transformation. With the strategies and techniques described throughout the book I was able to more effectively enhance communication in the workplace and throughout areas of my life. As Bob Hamp explains in Think Differently Learn Differently, “Regardless of what we have to say or how important it is, our target is never great delivery. Our target is people”. Bob’s keen ability to help us look at communication, connection and learning through a new set of lenses is invaluable.

If you still have breath, gift yourself this read. Your exhale will never be the same again! This book is God-inspired and inspiring. It will make you think differently about communicating in this world that so badly yearns and aches for authentic expression. I was admittedly excited to receive an advanced copy of this book by Bob Hamp. I knew it would be fabulous as every other achievement I've read and seen from him. What's new and unique is learning the importance of unlearning what is not helpful, before learning the way that is, so that you can freely share your freed self in your communications! Thank you, Bob, for respecting the creativity of God and each of us as unique expressions of His love in this world!

I received an advanced copy of this book, Think Differently Learn Differently. Bob Hamp continues the Parable of the Acrobat and shares how leaders, teachers, and anyone who speaks can approach an audience with real connection and help ideas root in the soul for lasting change.
This book is beyond a great read. I physically felt internal shifts as I read. At times I found myself exclaiming out loud because of the truths that he shares are validating and resonate deeply. Bob’s wisdom, intuition and experience are nothing short of profound. Bob is one of this generations C.S. Lewis in terms of the impact that his work has on the soul.

This book is amazing and will blow your mind in a multitude of ways. Ever wonder why you just can't seem to get your message across, even when you're trying as hard as you can? Ever wonder why people listen but don't seem to connect with your meaning? Ever wonder why people get the information you pass them but it doesn't make a difference to them? This book will help you understand why these teaching/learning failures occur and much more. It will help you contain your message, connect with others, and communicate effectively. It will help you understand your audience better and more importantly, it will help you understand yourself better. Read this book. You won't regret it!

I received a PDF of the book for review.
My main takeaway from this book is that we teach people, not topics. As such, learning how people learn (starting with ourselves) is a worthy endeavor and this book is a good starting point.
I appreciate Hamp’s ultra-meta approach to learning about learning. He provides helpful terminology about the way we learn and demonstrates with examples.
Each chapter wraps up with a summary of main points and questions designed to help you apply the content of the chapter.

The journey began the very first time I heard the phrase "Think Differently" I mean...I've never been the same.
I've read every book written by this amazing author and teacher Bob Hamp. I believe this book Think Differently Learn Differently is his best and most amazing work yet! It is a page turner. You will ponder, meditate, and perhaps even wonder how is this way of learning even possible. I guarantee you will be at the very least a better communicator. A better leader. Teacher. Mom. Dad. Student. Follower of Jesus. You. Just. Will.

As a writer I don't want to just put words on paper. My desire is for my words, sentences, paragraphs, stories to transform the reader, to discover there is more, that God has more for each of us. Bob Hamp's book Think Differently Learn Differently took me through the process to unlearn what I know, to relearn how to write and speak for transformation. Bob uses parables to help us to think differently so we can learn differently.

A must read for all leaders, speakers, authors, ministry leaders, etc. It certainly shifts your way of thinking as you share words with an audience. Why do you speak the way you speak? What if we desired to reach our audience the way they want to be reached - not the way we want to teach? A great book!

This book is putting so many puzzle pieces together for me like, “Why are some teachers so easy for me to follow.?” Or “Why can’t I seem to hold on to information that seems so important?”
And more importantly- how I can communicate in such a way that I can not only be heard and understood, but also can actually help promote transformation in listeners.

This book is a must read if you desire transformation for the people you train, coach, influence and the list goes on. It is so full of aha's and juicy nuggets that will rock your world. I finished reading but am reading again because of so much sticky content. I totally recommend you order this book ASAP so you can not only transform yourself but others you interact with. I've been using Bob's pattern disruption he talks about in the book and it has been awesome. I even use it on myself!! Go get this book so you don't miss out on how to change your life and the life of someone else.

I understand more than ever how the mind, will, spirit, emotions, and language all work together.
This book entered my life in a season of much change, and it helped me understand so much of "how I got to where I was" and "how God is currently bringing new freedom."
I'm really excited about coming back to it frequently, as a manual for planning how I communicate and teach for life, especially in ministry leadership and music education.

This is Bob’s most powerful and important book to date. He integrates his knowledge of the brain, learning styles, thinking processes, counseling and theology to produce this book which is life changing by reading it, and by using the material contained in it. I have a long history of both science and counseling and learned so much to apply in my life and my counseling practice.

Think Differently Learn Differently is a book for anyone who wants to communicate a message the fosters change.
In the beginning of the book he returns to the Kingdom Parable of the acrobat, which Bob presents in his first book, Think Differently Live Differently. (If you aren't familiar with it, you can listen to Bob teaching it here: https://vimeo.com/30750987)
He expounds on the acrobat's life who now helps others learn to fly. They want to learn from someone who is amazing at what they do. But, the acrobat faces the challenge of how others learn and how he can communicate learning to them.
Likewise, people with a message to share, like living free in Christ, face challenges in communication. It's not just about communicating the facts, but connection with another's soul in a way that fosters change.
The messages Bob communicates are presented in different ways than I've heard anywhere else, which shouldn't be surprising given the titles and content. :) I tend to need to listen and read repeatedly because what strikes me at one level typically is just the beginning.

As a counselor, as a parent, as a human soul looking to impact the world and how to communicate in a way that brings healing and instills hope, this book was invaluable to me. We all have areas of struggle that leave us feeling like we are missing something - stuck in the same old patterns of behavior and thinking that plague us year after year, but Bob Hamp brings to light the significance of belief and that it is only when we understand how we know what we know that we gain the insight to begin to change it.
He provides information and exercises for the mind and the spirit, that move from a place of reading to engaging what is being taught so that it becomes a part of your thinking process, and that in the turn, has the power to change your life and the lives of those around you. He uses parable and prose, just as Jesus did, to engage both sides of your brain, both vitally important in receiving information that lasts. Bob Hamp had done it again with the 3rd in his Think Differently series. This is his best book yet, in my opinion.

Think Differently Learn Differently is Bob Hamp’s latest gift to readers. So much is given in and through his book. Hamp gives the reader a new way of thinking and engaging in learning. This book has changed the way I learn. It has changed the way I think. It has helped me to recognize false structures that had me believing I was incapable of learning and has opened my mind, heart, and soul to the infinite possibilities of who I am as God’s creation.

This is a thoughtful, humorous, engaging book about effective ways to learn and communicate - so, if you ever want to learn anything or speak to anyone, you'll benefit! It is a beautiful and inspiring thing to watch Bob Hamp receive, contain, and broadcast so much goodness from our Sweet Jesus - and in doing so, help us all learn to do the same! Oh the awesome wonderfulness of it all!

This book knocked my sox off! I'm a Life Coach, a wife, a mother a grandmother and neighbor. I thought I was a great communicator because I could sense what was missing in my client's understanding. Think Differently Learn Differently is truly a great book for communication with “change in mind.” Communication can often feel like a one way conversation, but TDLearnD reminds us all that it’s a two-conversation between people, two hemispheres of the brain and whatever life experiences we bring into conversations and learning environments. I’ve read all three of Bob Hamp’s books. This book “Think Differently Learn Differently”, was like putting on a new pair of prescription glasses. I’m clearly learning to think differently and learn differently. The doors of opportunity and freedom are opening wide. I loved how he continued the Parable of the Acrobat.
When I received the Advance Digital Copy from the Author, I stayed up well into the night reading ... it was just that good!

This is the third installment of the Think Differently books. I received an advanced copy of the book from the author, Bob Hamp, a few weeks ago. Hamp’s down-to-earth story telling abilities, combined with his real-life examples, and vast experience in the counseling field, makes this book a powerhouse for effective communication. If you are a teacher, writer, leader, or communicator (which you are!) this book will help you develop to your greatest potential in these areas. Think Differently Learn Differently will quickly become a reference book you refer back to in the future.
