A dead vet tech…an activist group bent on destruction…and an adorable little dog that proves moxie has nothing at all to do with size.

For Blaise Runa, a job working the front desk at the local veterinary clinic is a fun but temporary diversion…a chance to spend every day with Miss Ivy, her adorable fur baby, while she continues to search for a career.
Unfortunately, the fun is soon sucked right out of the job when Blaise discovers one of the veterinary technicians poisoned in the kennel. The attack is quickly labeled the work of an activist group that resents the medical and financial resources “squandered” on pets.
But is there something less obvious…and possibly more sinister…at work?
Working alone and swimming against the tide of general opinion, Blaise soon suspects that she and her yummy fiancée, Dolfe Honeybun, might be fighting for more than justice for the vet tech. They might actually be battling to save a whole clinic full of beloved pets from someone who would be happy to see them dead. And if they’re not very careful, sweet little Miss Ivy might take her place at the top of a killer’s list.

I am a sucker for story with animals and really appreciate that money from this compilation went toward the no-kill shelters and because of this I bought several copies to give as gifts. Blaize and the Honeybun family and their adventures make me smile and laugh out loud at times. Twist & turns, murders & intrigue kept me interested all the way to the end.

This is a real fun mystery based around an animal shelter, told with the author's usual flair, there are aspects of the mysterious and the humorous in this story, but for me the best aspect of the story is the characters, they are all very well written and interesting.
I received an advance copy of the book, and have voluntarily reviewed it.

This story is in the Summer Snoops and Cozy Crimes: 12 Mysteries for Dog Days of Summer. It's about a Vet. Tech who is murdered at an Animal Clinic and the Honeybun brother who is a detective and his girlfriend get involved in solving the murder. This was a nice cozy mystery and I finished it this morning while is was pouring rain outside at home.

Dull... Dogs and murder? I seriously had difficulty paying attention to this storyline. I honestly couldn’t recommend this book to anyone.

Mourning Commute - The book includes an overview of all six books in this series. This story was better than I expected. Well written and funny with intriguing and interesting storylines, which actually makes this a substantial book in this genre. The characters are realistic and likable with realistic dialog. There are good family relationships that add depth and the investigation is intelligent. I don't care for actors/actresses/Hollywood, but I liked MayBelle. Professional mourners are a real job in the States, outside of NOLA, honestly? I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 5*

Sam Cheever, Toxic Tech (Summer Snoops and Cozy Crimes) - Another interesting story with the added bonus of a large amount of animals, and even a reptile as a major character. Intriguing with suspense and the usual humor found from this author blend well with the characters to keep the reader immersed in the story. Another good addition to the Honeybun and Runa series. There's a overview to let the reader know what the story is about, which I always appreciate. I purchased this set to support the authors' cause since they did so well with 12 Slays of Christmas. 4*
