My name is Toni. Some people think that when you die, you go to Heaven or Hell. Some think you sleep for eternity. It's neither. I know, because I'm dead.

Right off the bat, the Tagline hit me "I'm Toni and I know I'm dead" I just know I had to read it. I found this book on social media via a really awesome GIF that has the cover model moving and a voice over saying the tagline. I don't care who you are that's pretty awesome! I didn't read the blurb I just went and bought the book based on the tagline. I know the way I do this is not how most would but it works for me. Having just discovered P Mattern and her fellow co-authors recently I have made it a sort of mini mission to get a feel of the author's style and read a few of her books. So that's why there are reviews in blocks by the same authors. Over My Gave is about a girl named Toni who dies, we know this because of the tagline. The lead up to her death is one we can probably empathize with. A teenage girl falls in love. It's all perfect until they go to different colleges. In this instance, it's her boyfriend who is the douche bag and she finds out and ends up dead. The reason for her death I'm leaving for you to read about but I can say the events leading up to it made me want to throat punch Kody. The scene was set and I was ready to find out how Toni deals with being dead. I was really pleased with the direction the authors took Toni's story in. I had a moment of apprehension of a dead girl mooning about the netherworld. They really injected some sass into Toni and the scene where she awakens is really awesome. The whole welcome wagon reminds me of one of my favorite films Beetle Juice. Character development was good considering its a novella. I am always blown away by short books that are packed with detail and well rounded characters. The other ghosts that Toni interacts with are great. Each one has its own story and the descriptions are really well written. The way the authors have the characters react to their deaths was very enjoyable. There are no cheap haunting or parlor tricks in this book. Its all very much a book of self discovery and coming of age in a way.Having read two other books by P. Mattern I knew there would be some twits in this. Over My Grave is now the exception. Watching Toni 'grow up' through the book was really interesting. she seemed to go through some of the stages of grieving. She also seemed to gain a more of worldly outlook and maturity. Her personal journey of loss really made this book for me. The later chapters were not what I expected and I know I have said that in other books by this author and her co-writers but its a good thing. I loved being surprised. The authors really thought about this plot and their choices have really paid off in the build-up to the ending. My favorite character has to be Rochelle, even though she is one of the sub characters and isn't really a huge part of the plot I really enjoyed her story. The way she has been written really captured my imagination. In conclusion, this is a more tame read than the last two I have read featuring the same author with different co-authors. All have been great in their genre. For me this is less horror and more paranormal, coming of age with some really great twists. There are some really meaningful points in the book. Some moral dilemmas and the ripple effect was mentioned which really resonated with me throughout my reading experience. I really enjoy ghost stories and this one has a great twist on it. Being a greedy reader my only wish is that there had been more book. I give Over My Grave 5 STARS of a possible 5 STARS

Darkly brilliant

What happens when you die, where do you go? These are questions we all think about. P Mattern and L Ashby take us on a journey that started as tragedy and ended in love. Toni dies in an accident after finding out her boyfriend is cheating. She is now waking up dead and meeting a whole new group of friends. The world of the dead takes her to new heights of the living. Thank you P Mattern and L Ashby for some darkness added with some love. Just brilliant!!

Its a Short Story.
But Has a big story.
Makes me wonder if the after life could be as this story is laid out.

Well while she was among the living.. she had a wonderful Boyfriend..Or so she thought.
Driving three hours to see him..the plans they had came to a crash halt.

Kody The [Boyfriend ]

First let me say that the ending was very fitting and karma had its way. They talk about the bright light or hovering over your body when you die. I went to the bright light before I was pulled back. I always wondered what happened if you don’t cross over, but decided to stay in the I between. With Da-Sha-Vu, you feel like you’ve been there before, well maybe you have in another body. Tragedy happens and we all die, but what you make of it after death is up to you.

Ghostly greatness!

Over my grave is another short outstanding novella by P. Mattern. Insightful into the world of the dead but you still feel the aliveness of the characters. A character with work still left to be done but learn a valuable lesson instead. Everyone should read!
