We thought we wanted a good-sized house in suburbia. Instead, we’ve decided to declutter and downsize.
Western culture wants us to spend, spend, spend. From childhood we’re bamboozled and brainwashed into believing that buying stuff will make us feel better, feel sexier. When we own houses big enough to hold all of this stuff then we’ve made it, possessions are the modern show pony for friends, family and peers.
But this comes at a cost and it’s far from just monetary. It’s the cost of your time and space, to your health, wellbeing and the environment and the other untold negative costs of having too much stuff, experiencing more stress, expectation and obligation.
We’ve always had a shared but strong social conscience but in the past haven’t always known where best to concentrate our efforts. We asked ourselves what we couldn’t live without and it was love, happiness, security, good food and travel. And through our quest to live well with less, we finally discovered something which truly reflects our beliefs and our authentic selves. Join us to discover what it is to experience a well-lived life with less.
