I teach at one college that uses this book for its freshman composition courses. I like the assignments and its grounding in rhetorical approaches. It is weak on detailed information on documentation (but doesn't everyone use the Purdue OWL anyway?), and it is not the type of book that contains essays for student response. It is easy to use, and its strengths lie in discussions of modes and models of academic writing.

On here, this says that there are 416 pages in this book. I have this exact version of this book, and it has less than 400 pages....so I don't know who put 416, but that's totally wrong.

It's exactly what you expect from an academic writing manual.
