Now here is a woman to be admired! A pioneer, ever charming from all accounts; a mother, even schooled abroad, a wonderful woman. She did marvels in her country in the world of drama, and wrote several fine books, both for adults and children. I understand her books were, and are still used as textbooks all over the place. She died many years ago, but her legacy is intact.

What a legacy!! Drama, theatre, poetry, children's literature in Africa - the late Mrs Sutherland was an early selfless giant in these spheres. By the way, think about an Eurocentric literary great like William Shakespeare and ponder a simplistic question - How many studies, books, monographs et al have been published on this great dramatist over the centuries? At least hundreds, is the answer. African writers or specifically dramatists do no not have this advantage, luxury or recognition.Hence the importance of this magnificent book that looks at the life and times of Efua T Sutherland who performed miracles in Ghana mainly in the genre of Theatre. New generations of readers or exponents of drama in Ghana and Africa generally should read this work and appreciate the dynamic greatness of Sutherland. She was fantastic in every respect and as a pioneer, no praise can be enough for her. She essentially devoted her whole life to developing literature, theatre, children's writing, arts and culture generally. An incredibly inventive and dynamic woman. I believe that anybody interested in drama anywhere in the world should read this book. It is a must!
