Bridging Cultures: A Program Kit for Schools and Public Libraries

Rate this book
Bridging Cultures provides a wealth of resources and tools that bring different cultures to life in lively and fun ways for children. Native American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic American, and African American cultures are explored in separate chapters which demonstrate specific folklore themes and provide information on each group. One folktale is selected to illustrate the folklore theme, followed by lyrics for two of the original songs on the accompanying audiocassette. Written for children, these songs were inspired by actual traditional music and are recorded with proper instrumentation. Detailed activities to use with each song are followed by other versions of the folktale. (A separate chapter focuses on comparative folklore.) Also provided are clip art, instructions for craft projects, and more. (+30 minute audiocassette)
