The book was a sweet and simple read.
The concept of the book was really nice, that how a person overcomes all the obstacles in his life to achieve something great. The author sends a strong message to his readers through this, that we should never ever tell ourselves any bullshit story, that stand between us and our dreams, as to why we cannot achieve it.
The story revolves around a man in his late twenties, who is struggling hard to make it big in the Bollywood industry. Currently, he was the assistant director in some low budget movie. Also, he was done with the daily nagging of his father, who was always after his life to find a good and satisfactory job, which would give him stability. But, the protagonist named Rudra is adamant on his decision for becoming a rising sensation in Bollywood. Now, here comes the turning point in the story, where two things takes place in his life- first being that, he was fired from his job and secondly his father asks him to leave his place.
Now, what is interesting to know in the story is that, how he overcomes all the bad situations happening in his life and thus, the story ends on a happy note. After a certain point of time, the story becomes quite predictable and unrealistic. I’m sure this book could be made into a motivational Bollywood movie, as the writing style of author was quite cheesy.
According to me, the novel seemed like more of a typical romantic Bollywood movie, high on drama, struggle and romance. Where the actor finds it hard to get a good job, and then his parent doesn’t support him, the love of his life breaks his heart and after all the doors are closed, he works hard towards his goal and finally makes it big. Thus, over and all, this book is one time read.
I would like to say that this book is a perfect blend of dreams, failures, friendship, love, heartbreak, Bollywood and obviously Mumbai. One can find some English mistakes in the book, if read carefully but, it was quite simple and the beginners can surely go for this book.
