Brief, informative, simply but elegantly written, and beautifully illustrated by the author. Sets out clearly the pagan roots of the festival period adopted by Christianity, explaining the symbolism within many of the seasonal customs.

I really enjoyed this short informative and beautifully illustrated book about the roots of our Midwinter customs and celebrations in the Northern Hemisphere. Touching on everything from neolithic standing stones to mediaeval Mummers this little book is a treasure trove of fascinating information and inspiring artwork.
