Victory Pass: A Sequel to Show Time

Victory Pass is the third book in a series that began with Stake Night and continued with Show Time. I recommend that you read those books first to become familiar with the horse and human characters. In Show Time, only a few minutes before her horse was to enter the ring, Missy Phillips chose to ride in the Five-Gaited World Championship herself. She insisted her trainer, the vindictive Johnnie Stuart, dismount, causing an angry scene in the warm-up ring. Deprived of an opportunity for glory and embarrassed in front of his colleagues, Johnnie vowed to get even with Missy.In Victory Pass, Missy’s decision causes her new trainers to deal with Johnnie’s wrath, while striving to build a successful business with a few good horses and cantankerous clients. They work to make their clients happy and successful, dealing with setbacks and challenges that threaten their future. Most of the characters from previous books reappear as they continue their quests to win the most coveted prize in the Saddlebred industry. There are also some new human and equine characters and themes in this story that I hope you will enjoy.

Love the various characters

sharing the "lead roles" . Susan obviously knows her gaited horses. Highlighted/bookmarked two sections toward the end which discussed issues of importance to all breeds/disciplines . Also thumbs up to the helmet discussion. It's NYS law for riders under 18.....but as far as I've ever seen, only the hunter/jumper industry enforces it.

The world of gaited horses is fascinating

As an outsider from another discipline, understanding how gaited horses are ridden and trained is neat. But the ending, having Johnnie kicked out of the ring, is just plain incorrect He was called out among the top 4, so he should have gotten 4th. It's sad that a good book ends so oddly . But I hope there are more.

I have enjoyed this series immensely! I especially enjoy horse books and this is a sport I am unfamiliar with and I love that I can learn while reading a great story/series. I am always ready for another book in the series!!!!

Another winner in the series !

Following all the story lines is like catching up with friends. Excellent attention to detail invites even non horse people into the Saddlebred world.

I’m tea enjoying Susan Archer’s books about showing American Saddlebred horses. She is knowledgeable and fun. The stories end very abruptly, however, leaving the reader hanging. I’m hoping for another sequel and a proper conclusion.

Great Reading

I loved the characters personalities. Each horse's characters and personalities were also described so well, that you felt like you knew them personally. Good book!

Victory Pass.

This, the third instalment in the Stake Night Series, is just as interesting as the other two and deserves a 5 star rating. The reader is treated to well written beloved return characters and it's also introduced too new.

The horses and people are realistic. The set up, moving from barn to barn and show to show each chapter, keeps you reading to find out what is happening.
