This funny, charming story is the perfect way to introduce young children to being patient, and help them understand the importance of waiting their turn. Also included are suggestions for activities and ideas to talk through together to help children fully understand how their behaviour can impact on others.Croc can never wait for anything - he's alway interrupting, rushes everything and he can never wait to take his turn. Can he learn to slow down and be a little more patientThe Behaviour Matters series of picture books provide a gentle means of discussing emotions, boosting self-esteem and reinforcing good behaviour. Supports the Personal, Social and Emotional Development Area of Learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and is also suitable for use with children in KS1 and can be used to discuss values. Suitable for children under 5.
A touchy topic indeed. Sometimes called "Impatience" and other times called...
"You want what you want when you want it."
HOORAY!
I very much like the social skills approach from Miss Bird: very appropriate for raising children, seems to me.
Altogether, I'm relieved.
*Social skills, like manners, are appropriate learning for children under ten. *Likewise? Learning about consequences of rushing, like the ruined pot that Croc was making for his mother? Excellent!
Whereas mindfulness and "slow down," though somewhat trendy today, can hurt more than they help.
Note: Skills like Consciousness Positioning Consults® can clarify the unintended impacts on the child the grownups are trying to help.
Thank you, Sue Graves, for this sensible help for children. And their parents. And caregivers. Brilliant!
Set at school, Croc tends to rush and has trouble being patient. This impacts her school work and friendships. Part of a series of books to support positive behavioural skills.
Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
Really good book about how to teach our kids about patience. Even though Max still 22 months, but he needs to know about patience. With this book, Max can understand well enough about patience or sabar as Max knows it. Especially because the story is about crocodile and other animals, Max finds it interesting and fun to read the book. Well, I read it for him, but he already asked me to read it for him like 5 times now.
Croc is impatient and rushes through everything. This causes issues for him and for friends and others. Finally, he listens to his teacher and discovers how much easier life is when he takes his time and focuses. Great to read with a child who needs a reminder about having patience. Informative text for adults included at the end of the book.
Ok most of the books in this series are very much the same, but in this one the teacher says Croc's picture is not neat enough to go one the wall, like WTF? If my kid's teacher said this to my kid we would have words.
Great book to use as a discussion starter with children in the classroom or at home. This one is about being impatient but learning to wait nicely and take your time with things. Great collection of books!
I love this book and the activity suggested at the back I have a number of little friends who would gain a great deal from reading this book together and following through with the paired colouring activity.
What I liked about this book was that the teacher asked Croc what she should have done with the pot, giving Croc time for self-reflection and an opportunity to grow and learn, rather than just scolding her. Illustrations were not my favorite.
