These Melanges Offered to Madiha Doss are first and foremost the affectionate tribute of friends and colleagues, personally and intellectually linked to her. They wished to express their gratitude for the part she has taken in Egypt's current history, in the civil society and more specifically in the Egyptian academic world; and, above all, for her contribution to the development on studies of the Arabic language of Egypt, in all its registers and real uses, oral and written, past and present.
