Women have always had challenges but somehow they overpass the challenges. Gender and Race by Duchess Harris is an inspiring book to pay tribute to the female athletes who have overcome challenges and set the way for future generations. The book is not only celebrating their achievements but educating people about the challenges that women have overcome across multiple sports around the world. The book illustrates several women and their struggles and impacts on today's sports for women. The book details every aspect of Serena Williams and the influence she’s had in today's world with the most important one being winning more Grand Slam Singles titles than any other man or woman in tennis. Gender and Race is a good book although there’s parts I did not like. The main thing that I disliked was how in a book with more than 100 pages they didn’t give more information about the impact women have in soccer. The overall structure is amazing and definitely very informative. Anyone from 6th grade up could understand this book. The book overall is extraordinary and very educational. I would personally recommend this book to those that want to learn more about women's influence.
