FROM THE Hello Friend,
Like me, do you crave more lighthearted Wow-God Moments? Between ordinary slices of life as a working wife and mom, sometimes we’re just too hurried and harried to see Jesus.
This book is a story-based women's devotional and it’s a journey. In it I share how God helps me find extraordinary Wow-God moments. Consider this an invitation to chat over coffee in my kitchen that’s dotted with sprinkles from my daughter’s donut.
God is delighted to be invited into our lives. Between mounds of meals to be made and bills to be paid, He shows up transforming mundane moments (like a trip to the grocery store for hamburger buns) into memory-worthy moments.
Come rest with me,
Lisa

As you might have guessed, the word wonder is key in this book by this inspirational author. She wants you to see the world in a different way, a new way, a way that just might fill you with a bit of joy. This new way of looking at things in your life will not cost you anything. It requires that you take the time, be a bit more deliberative, and, perhaps, a bit more childlike.

Lisa Wilt models much of what she means. She shares her own joy and wonder in her day-to-day life—how each day she marvels at the little things that help her rise above the tedium and drudgery of life’s demands and routines. Often she is filled with wonder over the reactions of her children to the very simple joys of life—how her baby son squeals with delight when she opens a can of peas, how her children love balloons. Their beginning understanding of the UPS man, for example, their joy of climbing into a shipping box and thinking that they could be shipped somewhere is enough to give her a WOW moment of wonder.

Lisa Wilt suggests that it is enough to open yourself to these moments. See the world as a child might. Participate in the world, even as a witness and appreciate the wonder that others have towards the world. You can vicariously get a thrill that way, too. Lisa draws parallels to the life that Jesus led on earth. She often quotes scripture to make a point which enhances what she believes—that life is inherently a good thing—there are moments of joy all around—you just have to see them.

I recommend this book if you need to be reminded of this fact. 5 stars

5-STAR Wonder-Full and Wonder-Filled!

A MUST READ! I loved the Wonder-Full and Wonder-Filled messages presented in this book. The author shared such lovely vignettes to illustrate her point. The journey forward at the end of each story has excellent suggestions so that we might find our own Windows of Wonder. Well done!

As a woman I asked myself...between the ordinary slices of my life as a working wife, a mom and a pharmacist, does God sandwich meaty glimpses of His glory? While there are still mounds of meals to be made and loads of clothes to be laundered, does He hide God-moments between dirty dishes and dirty socks?

Even though my kitchen window is clouded, can God sharpen my spiritual vision so that it is Windex® clear as I look for the unexpected in the expected routine of my days?

Since my most cherished job is being a mom, I pray He will provide W.O.W. moments in my upside-down, desperate moments of motherhood. After all, W.O.W. when turned upside down does spell “M.O.M.,” right? Will you walk with me on a spiritual journey looking for wonder, not just in the pages of this book but in the story of your life?

Let’s ask God to be our guide. And let’s turn to His Word for inspiration. Though our eyes may still have raccoon remnants of mascara when we peer in the mirror each morning, let’s search for the majestic in the mundane. Even if we have to race to roll the garbage cans to the curb in our robes on trash day, can we be still enough to hear Him speak in the daily pace that numbs us to wonder?

Breathe deep and exhale purposefully with me. It’s a Mount Rushmore-sized challenge to rush less. Will you take the journey with me? Together let’s hunger for wonder!

Grab your fork and reading glasses. Let’s feast on each day’s delectable moments, making every day a holiday. Let’s giggle, sigh, weep and smile...but most of all, let’s bask in the light of His magnificence. He who created the sun, the moon and the starfish wants you and me to slow down, relax and experience Windows of Wonder. Let’s be wowed together.
