Plotting and scheming does not pay!
Both Freya and Georgina were disappointed when their attempts to ruin other people's lives for their own selfish means. FFreya was just jealous of Sandra's ability as a masseuse and wanted to get rid of her because she did not fit Freya's ideal for beauty. She considered Sandra to be fat, old and ugly. Georgina thought she was entitled to more money from her billionaire ex husband Brad Lovell, even though she signed a prenuptial agreement. She would resort to doing anything to get more money out of Brad. She tried it.
Sandra Daniel was an independent, stubborn and self reliant divorced woman and mother, who was used to doing things for herself for the past thirty years alone. So, when she started catching feelings for Brad, it scared her and she ran, twice. Her philandering ex husband Logan was the only man she'd ever been with in all that time. Being intimate with Brad scared the hell out of her. She was not the type woman he was usually seen with.
Brad Lovell was not aging gracefully. He was on the wrong side of fifty. Even though he took care of himself, he surrounded himself with young women half his age and made the mistake of marrying one who turned out to be a gold digger of the highest order. When he caught her betraying him with the boyfriend she'd never gave up, he decided to live his life partying and drinking until a near fatal accident caused him to re-evaluate his life.
His masseuse, Sandra, was easy to talk to and great at her job. It did not hurt that she was an excellent listener as well. The more time he spent with her, they more he realized he'd never been in love before and his attraction to his ex wife was just lust, he'd been duped by her. He loved Sandra even though she was not typical of the women he was normally attracted to. What he felt for Sandra was deeper than anything he'd ever felt before, especially after she'd helped him to keep his money grubbing ex from getting her hands on more money. He just had to persuade her of this fact and that his playboy ways are behind him. He had to accept that Sandra was her own independent person and gie her room to be that.
I really enjoyed reading this interesting drama filled story about a mature couple. It just goes to show you that people on the "wrong side of fifty" need and desire to be loved too. These stories are too far and in between and rare. I wish more authors would write more stories like this as the coming of age, co-ed and teen love stories have been done to death, and frankly boring. Thank you Ms Davis for this beautiful story!
