Written in the early 70s, Ivan Steiner's analysis of group process and productivity has become a 'go to' reference for me. I'd come across references to his ideas of 'process loss/process gain' through other group dynamic/organizational development authors. Originally bought as a 'shelf-reference' that I thought I'd skim through just to gain familiarity, I found this information to be absolutely fascinating and ended up spending a great deal of time clarifying Steiner's insight on task alignment and it's importance to group productivity. Well worth the effort. Very helpful.
Great work. After 40 years his ideas are still under examination or to be tested in empirical studies...Did we make any progress in team research for last two decades?
