The Children’s Society Disaster Strikes! Adults are turning to stone. Widespread panic has gripped the world. When an unexpected outbreak takes the world by surprise, kids are left orphaned and trying to find a way to survive without the help of any adults. Fate brings together five kids who just might have what it takes to save the world. Brooke Estrella Mite is a thirteen year old girl, who is wealthy, popular and has a good life. At least until her New Year’s Eve party, when an employee of her father's is turned into stone right in front of her. Jake Nathaniel Peterson is a twelve year boy who loves sports and is having a good week, when he gets scared out of his wits. All he did was go to Brooke’s party which ended up changing the course of his life. Kaitlyn Jane Summers is having a hard time comprehending what is happening in the world around her. She is fourteen and feels like she should be able to understand this. She knows enough to realize that what's happening should not be scientifically possible, and something is terribly wrong. Patrick John Allen is in despair, he is only fifteen and some of his closest mentors have turned to stone. He is praying that this won’t happen to his family or friends, and struggling to maintain his faith in a world of chaos. Tessa Elise Conner is working on her computer on yet another science project, when an alert pops up on the corner of her screen. She ignores it, and another four pop up all with almost the same title that might get a normal ten year old to click on them immediately, but she is hesitant, well what harm can come from looking at some news? After reading the articles, she is in shock. Could people really turn to stone? Could she find the cure and save everyone? Was this all a trick? Can these five friends find the cure to this mysterious disease and save their future?
