This felt like a final chapter to the other books, not a stand-alone book. It was ok. If not for the characters and the story, I wouldn't have bothered after book 1. I didn't care for the style of this series and am not interested in following this author for that reason.
I fell in love with the characters and the story line in the first book I read which was number 2. I was heart broken when I finished it, but so excited when I realized I could buy the next book in the series (A Path to Spring), right then, which I did. I love to read good clean romances and suspense novels and this filled the bill completely! It was also nice that there were only a few typos, unlike some books that are loaded with them.
This is the resolution to the trilogy, Abby has been taken captive and the story largely focuses on that period of time. The first two books were very good, this was okay. Why was her braid sent as proof of life to someone who wouldn't know she typically wore a braid?
