Adventures Of Captain Bobo
The book series 'The Adventures of Captain Bobo' tells the many stories of wise Captain 'Bobo' and his paddle steamer the Red Gauntlet. No matter what challenges he encounters at sea, he always manages to save the day. He knows his craft better than anyone and has a comical crew to help him including Bleep, Boing Boing , The Giant Fish-Eater and his trusty dog Salty who bring their unique fun to the ensemble. Day by day, the captain has to compete with the many modern ships and superior technologies, but somehow he always wins out. In The Circus Comes to Town it seems Captain Bobo has sailed his last voyage on the Red Gauntlet. After 25 year s distinguished service, the grand old paddle steamer is finally to be laid up . But, suddenly one last trip is on the cards when the Circus finds its star performer missing. With time against them, and a tricky problem to solve before they sail, find out if they can save the day? It s all down to Captain Bobo and his First Officer Sheila McSween, Chief Engineer Puffy Watt, Able Seaman Bleep, Cabin Boy Billy oh, and of course, not forgetting his faithful wee dog Salty .

The Captain Bobo series comes partly from a love of the Clyde, and partly from helping research my late father-in law's memoir and social history history Hurricane Hutch's Top 10 Ships of the Clyde. It helped I had a house on the Clyde coast for over 10 years.

The Adventures of Captain Bobo: Bananas is a fun story based on a boat in which Tufty the elephant escapes and the Captain is on the mission to save the elephant and keep him safe.
The children really enjoyed this story and liked the silliness of how the elephant left because of the bananas but they also thought it was fun to see all of the problems only an elephant could have when he was trying to escape!
The illustrations are lots of fun to look at and it's nice to see many realistic looking vehicles in the pictures like the boat and the helicopter. This kept the attention of the vehicle loving children a lot whilst most of the children also enjoyed seeing the animals, particularly nearer the end as they thought the last pages looked like fun.
The book is quite long but it is a book the children enjoyed and it was great to follow the crew as they try to save the day despite the unusual problem they were facing, a very good book.
