This accessible paperback in the "Facts About" series covers all aspects of the famous campaign in surprising detail, with much hard-to-find information on the background of the participants, the Mexican viewpoint, and the continuing mystery of possible survivors.
I knew the very basics of Custer and his "Last Stand", prior to reading this book. Now, I feel like I was there. A fascinating collection of facts relating to the greatest loss in the U.S. Army's history of war with the North American Indian.
A mind numbing number of facts about Custer and the Battle of the Little Big Horn presented in a sequential order -#1, #2, #3 ….. to number #1876. The lone saving grace from this boredom was I read an old used copy of this book where an obvious Custerphile wrote a countless number of corrections and interesting comments on the page borders.
And speaking about a Custerphile, this is my 114th read about General George Armstrong Custer. Not one of the better ones.
