Herman hadn’t moved, “Now feller!” One of the men hollered, “If yer want’n help you’ll damn shor get it!” From the darkness ten year old Tillie Jane hollered, “How about you fellows just throwin’ down them guns ‘fore I pull both triggers on this shotgun?” The men jerked up straight with one saying, “Now hold on there kid! You don’t want’a do somethin’ like that.” “Want’a bet yore life on it!” Herman hollered, “Remember what I taught you Tillie Jane! Aim high so you don’t kill ah horse! That double ought buckshot has a wide spread.” “I remember Daddy, just nod yore head when yer ready for me to shoot.” Ted, Tillie Jane’s little brother was kidnapped. She sent for U.S. Marshal Shorty for help and got it. Then trouble really started. To Lordsburg, Los Angles and back to El Paso they followed kidnappers and bank robbers. Banditos trying to rob a train didn’t know the best little shooter in the southwest was on that train. One cowboy hollered, “Ladies you’d better cover yore ears! When ten guns are fired at once it’s gonna be loud.” Tillie Jane dropped to one knee in the isle, rifle at her shoulder. A cowboy looked back and saw Tillie Jane, she was making sure no cowboy stepped between her and that door. “Girl you’d better…” As that door opened and three banditos rushed in, Tillie Jane pulled the trigger of that rifle. The slug went all the way thru the first one into the second killing them both. The third one didn’t have a chance as ten pistol slugs ripped into his body.
I have been hooked on U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson's exciting escapades since reading the first one and now that number is sixty one. Fortunately, I have enjoyed each and everyone of this wonderfully heartwarming series and anxiously awaiting the next thrilling episode to appear. This is one of the most endearing series of stories I have ever had the opportunity to enjoy and I have read a few, including all of the Joe Pickett series. Mr. Paul L. Thompson consistently writes the most innovative stories I have ever enjoyed. Never read a book by him that wasn't near to perfection. He is definitely the master, when it comes to writing old western adventures!
As always, five stars and more! This is one of U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson's most heartwarming caring adventure this far. There is excitement from beginning to end and Little Miss Willie Jane from Hillsboro is definitely the heroine. There is plenty of exciting gunplay throughout the entire book and the storylines always creates an endearing context that never ceases to maintain my full attention. The characters are unsurpassed in their explicit cunningness and their assignments were effectively initiated throughout the entire story. I can continue these accolades forever, but enough is enough, so I will close with the recommendation that anyone loving believable American folklore will find the niche you are looking for in this wonderful series of Shorty Thompson. To not read these stories will, most certainly, be you loss. I have to earn you tho be ready to read sixty one books, as you will most certainly be as hooked as I am!
Another U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson is saved by a young ten year old girl, when she happened to see the glint of metal and knew it was a rifle. That bushwacker rifle was aimed at our Marshal Shorty, that's how Shorty became acquainted with Tillie Jane from Hillsboro, New Mexico. Robbers, kidnappers and conniving brothers who owned a bank were running land and mine scams. Cheaters, bank and stagecoach robberies were rampant around the town of Hillsboro, the men behind all this debauchery were the two banker brothers..Between Tillie Jane and Marshal Shorty Thompson brought them all justice and the oddity was the two brothers came from a very wealthy family. I guess there father considered them the black sheep of the family.
A U.S. Marshal Shorty Thompson Western/Two Wealthy Bad Bankers
PLT ha penned another Shorty Thompson novel this western is about a young girl who is a deadly shot with a Winchester. She comes to Shorty Thompson's aid as he is about to be ambushed by two brothers who are trying steal a ranch that has a hidden deposit of gold. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
I gave it three stars because I had reservations about a ten year old girl who could kill without remorse or consideration of her actions. In our current times children who can kill small animals and people without remorse are sociopaths. If she had been older I might have given it five stars.
I enjoy a good clean western movie and book. My Husband got me interested in western 's while he was in bed with nothing to do. I would read and he would watch a western. I am reading another of your western 's. Thank you for not every other word being nasty.
Thank you Paul L Thompson for another awesome book on Shorty U. S. Marshall. I really liked the little red head Tilly hope to see more books like this. Look forward to the next book on Shorty.
U.S. Marshal Shorty Thompson - Tillie Jane from Hills boro
This is a typical Shorty story with the exception of Tillie . Tillie makes an implausIble entrance and does impossible things which makes the character good but tongue in cheek.
Paul Thompson needs to proof read his books. There are too many simple errors to be overlooked. For example, if for of and the when it should hsve been
The book has too many simple errors. For example, many times if instead of and the instead of they.
Another excellent book by Paul L. Thompson a first class read where the reader feels as if they were actually involved in the action. I look forward to reading more titles from this author.
Another unique plot and many twists and turns, maybe too many, but I still liked the read very much. Of course the heroine idea was impossible, BUT it is fiction and has a lot of historical places. I enjoyed the book.
I loved Tillie Jane from Hillsboro! I could easily visualize her shooting stance and her feisty personality. A different type of character but endearing!
